OCCRE TRAM BASE KIT:

In order to provide a method of displaying the varied range of Tram kits produced by Occre they supply a display base for this very purpose.

INITIAL THOUGHTS:

1. While this kit will provide a very attractive base for your tram
model what is very noticeable is the lack of any attempt at
portraying the power lines. Modellers in 1:35th scale will most
probable be aware of the excellent Miniart “Base with Tram Line” in
their diorama series. With this kit they do attempt to supply
overhead power in the form of 2 power cable standards.

I guess if required these could possibly be fabricated. As Occre
produce the San Francisco tram which is cable drawn rather than O/H
powered this may explain the omission from the kit

2. Within the box you receive the following parts:

1 x MDF display base.
3 x lengths angle strip wood with which to make the base surround.
This is plain (not of excellent quality in my examples) which you
can stain, varnish or paint depending on personal preference.
1 x pack cobble stones. These are small BROWN squares of what appears
to be something like Das clay. The instructions would have you
using PVA to stick this to the base board.
1 x pack cast metal rails
1 x Plan. This is a paper print of the track layout and cobble stone
plan. The instructions would have you glue to the base board in
order to affix the other parts on top. Unsure of this as the
final stage is the grouting in of the cobblestones so on the
basis that paper and MDF are not too happy with water I think
some sealer will be required before the cobbles are affixed.
1 x Small bag of White Powder. This apparently will be mixed with
water to provide the grout mix for the cobbles. Initial thoughts
are that you might be better off with a pre made household tile
grout.

3. The size of this base is listed as being 200mm x 400mm.

SO WHAT DO THESE PARTS LOOK LIKE?
