Issue 95 completed today.... Nothing new on this one, simply the adding of Seahorse decorations down the port side, layering the chainwale platforms and fitting into position... Again the platforms are held simply by pins, to be securely fitted later.... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Hi all, issue 96 completed today. Started by cleaning out the holes in the deadeyes using a 1mm drill in a pin vice... sanded the deadeyes smooth then gave them 2 coats of walnut stain... . Cut the brass wire and chain into lengths as per the mag instructions and blackened using blacken-it solution, degreasing the pieces first of course... Found with the chains I had to leave them in the solution overnight, on removal there was a dusty film that was simply removed using a fairly stiff paint brush... When happy moved onto making up 12 deadeyes as per the mag instructions... .. Next step was to make up the strip that attaches to the front edge of the chainwale platform and this piece also had to be layered with walnut, a fiddly process but worked out very well... Using a blob of superglue gel in each slot I then fitted the deadeyes into position followed by gluing the front strip in place... The front edge of the platform was then given 2 coats of gold paint and the whole piece was coated with 2 coats of satin varnish before finally gluing in place on the hull..... . All in all a time consuming process but am very happy with the end results.... .. Happy building all.... Regards Alan Gandale attached the following image(s):

Hi Alan. A really nice job on those chainwales, I can remember doing them on my Grimsby and Bounty, one of the more fiddly exercises, especially when going the whole hog and lining the edges too! The next main job on the Victory will be her channels when I get back to her - aw poo! Keep it up M8, a superb looking girl taking shape beautifully! Robin First wooden ship: The Grimsby 12 Gun 'Frigate' by Constructo Second: Bounty DelPrado Part Works Third: HMS Victory DelPrado Part Works 1/100 scale Diorama of the Battle of the Brandywine from the American Revolutionary War Diorama of the Battle of New Falkland (unfinished sci-fi), Great War Centenary Diorama of the Messines Ridge Assault Index for the Victory diary is on page 1

I thought about going the whole hog and actually lining the edges too but then I thought with so much gold bling on this girl the painting of the edges wouldn't look out of place... am pleased I went with the paint option..... .. Thanks again and look forward to seeing you back on your Vic too.... Regards Alan
