Received my second shipment recently and after assembling the clutch to rear engine piece I come across the preview in the instructions about "inking" or detailing parts..This needs to be done before assembly..Seems like if you are interested in detailing parts no assembly should be happening(before detailing instructions at least)..Also why assemble engine parts loosely if later they are dis-assembled??The tiny screws are hard to work with and not made to be removed and reassembled often..The provided little phillips screwdriver is not much use..Some screws seem to work fine while others seem to strip out easily..Also would like to know about I can aspect about the quality of the paint work on the parts??Inperfections are hard to avoid and I am guessing that I can not aspect 100% perfection in the paint work..Please comment on my thoughts..Thanks..Steve in SC USA

Steve: Welcome to the forums; the extra detail finish on the clutch is nice, but you will never see it once the engine is installed in the chassis. As far as the finish on the other parts, you will find it very satisfactory as you progress through the build, I think.

Hi Steve and a warm welcome... When to build is a personal choice and there are those that will collect most, if not all parts before assembling the MP4/4 and there are those that will start from stage one and assemble as they receive there delivery. It's always best to look through the build sequence before assembling parts as you may prefere to "hold off" assembling some parts until later once you have decided if your going to add detail or not. The inking of parts to add detail is a suggestion and there will be those that do not do this, it's not a part of the build process as such but to help and give guidance to those that wish to add detail. Some members have decided not to use the screw driver provided and have purchased there own set and once again this is down to personal preference, some will have no problems using the one provided. Quality wise.. From personal experience with this model it's superb and a lot of attention has gone into making it as authentic and as close to the real car, so I don't think you have anything to worry about there regarding the paintwork  Regards Spencer

I under stand quality in paint work..When dust gets on the part before painting you get flaws in the paint work ..I have a rear wing outer plate that is flawwed..Can I expect 100% quality in the paint work or are small flaws the norm?? Mind you this is a small flaw..I know 100% quality is hard to achieve..

As you say Steve 100% quality is hard to achieve and there may well be other small flaws people will encounter but you have the choice to get the effected part replaced if needed. I've yet to find any model that does not have flaws in them of some kind. Spencer

Given the conditions that the parts are given in factory,which will still be high you are bound to get the odd dust particke here and there when you are painting hundreds of tiny individual parts, same for masked parts, you are bound to get slightly off masked parts.
but that said if you was prep'ng amd doing it yourself even with a powerfull paint booth what do you think you yourself could do and same for masking?
Overall I think the parts are top notch so far, I see a part thats sprayed silver on one of the parts I recieved, its masked part yet the masking must have been slightly off but once again very acceptable.
If you are expecting flawless and 100% perfectipn forget it cos you wont get it.but if you want 90% then you will get it for sure.
I am nothing short of impressed so far.
