Hi, I am new to the forum although I have been following it for some time. In stage 8 the left hub assembly was built and I ono this is a static display but the way this hub is made the wheels seem that they do not rotate.
If this is correct has anyone looked into altering the hubs and fitting bearings.
The bearing size required seems to be 9 by 4 by 2.4 x 2 and are available.
I do have a spare hub and may give it a go.

First of all a big welcome to the forum HarryAsh  There is no reason why the discs won't turn on the wheel hub etc and they are not designed to run free like a toy cars wheel so there might be some friction. (As you say it is a static model and not designed to be pushed around the floor) So, it may be possible that some adhesive may have gotten onto the Disc itself. Using the paper between the callipers etc gives you time to make adjustments before the glue sets and being able to turn the disc etc. Another word of caution is that if you do decide to modify the hubs and adding bearings (personally I'm not sure it's possible) then any parts that need replacing due to damage will have to be paid for. So unless your sure the hubs where assembled correctly to start with (always worth checking) then it might be better to go down the route of getting replacement parts sent. Any defect parts may need to be returned of course. I know it's difficult to show a picture of the disc not turning but if you could provide a picture of the parts you have assembled then hopefully we might be able to understand more what the problem may be. I have already worked out that on this model the disc rotates on the axle shaft.
I am just looking into the possibility of making the axle shaft rotate as it would on the real car.

I am currently waiting for pack 3 but surely from looking at the build pictures it should not rotate. The 2 copper coloured parts are fixed which surely means that when you tighten the wheel nut, the wheel, disc and outer shaft should all pull together tight and not move. For the disc and wheel to rotate on the axle the wheel nut would have to be left loose meaning the wheel would wobble? It's the brake disc that rotates and the wheel clamps to the brake disc/hub as a normal car does. Both rotate together allowing the car to stop. The model is not designed to "freewheel" but does allow for rotation. Spencer

I have done a scaled cross section drawing of the upright and bearings I was going to use. It came clear that I would have to modify the upright to fit the bearings (depth). This and the problems of running clearances etc I have decided to build as per instructions.
