Have followed the instruction for stage 57 up to picture 26

My assembly looks like the picture 26

all seems OK except I have noticed that crankshaft will not turn and the piston seems to be stuck at the top of the lining

Should it still turn freely - I assume it should

Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused Confused

Thanks for that. Just what i needed

There are no rings on the piston itself so I assume the taper in the sleeve is to help with compression when the engine is running. I have freed up the piston and it will turn until almost at the top.
Should be interesting when I fire it up for the first time

Yep you got it BigGrin just try to avoid turning unless you have added after run oil otherwise it's metal against metal.

The starting of a new nitro engine needs a little patience, but after a few start-ups/runs the internal components will have bedded in, but take great note of the running-in procedure and engine care if you want engine longevity.

Not withstanding my minor issues with the construction of the engine.I have completed the construction so far and am now waiting for the next set of issues to complete. Only another 4 weeks to wait

Careful 'break in' of the engine will extend its life by up to 20%. For the first 2/3 tanks of fuel, be gentle on the throttle and run the model in a figure of 8 pattern, but do not apply full throttle during this period, and let the engine cool between runs.
