Nearly completed the 3rd pack now, just some trim around the poop deck edge and the deck cutout and Im done for this month  The deck is done with the "weather it"" solution but this time a much weaker mix, i used a ratio of 1 part of the solution to 7 parts water as I wanted it not as dark as the Victory deck. This was followed by a Danish oil and alcohol mix. Another thing to note is that I have blacked out the 2 poop deck hatches as I didnt plank below them, I was getting low on my Tanganyka strips so just to be sure I saved as much as could. I used a Danish Oil and alcohol mix as well, the Danish Oil went on the boat...............  Building: DelPrado HMS Victory. Building: DeAgostini Sovereign Of The Seas.

Thanks for the comments I have now completed the 3rd pack (stages 11-15) This only involved fitting the walnut trim around the cockpit and poop deck edges. I have just received stages 16-20 but these are the start of the x-section build, this build is unlike the Victory in that the x-section is combined throughout the build and not tagged onto the end. Managed to catch up with my parts now, just fitted all the gunport cutout / templates. Should be making some more progress with this now along with the Victory hopefully as I currently have no plastic kits on the go I havent fitted any of the dummy gun supports as these were just squares of wood glued to the back of the cutouts, I plan to have the gunport lids closed on this one anyway as I'm not sure how the dummy cannon will look as there is no depth to the ports. More soon hopefully Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Thanks Tony, Yes, the gunport strips are just a template for the spacing, there are 2 layers of planking to go on top yet and these are obviously cut to fit around the ports. Still saved a bit of work on the marking out etc Steve

Hi Stevie, coming along very nicely indeed..... You bring up a really good point that I hadn't really thought of relating to the dummy gun supports and their lack of depth... Think now you mention it the lack of depth would really look quite false on the finished build so the idea of closed gun ports would be preferable..... Am thinking more along the lines of removing the gun supports altogether and fitting full gun carriages, that would also get rid of the depth problem...... . Thanks Andy, I reckon the dummy guns will come very late on in the build as per the Victory Alan, I'm just guessing about the final look of the gunports but on the Victory there is actual depth, about a 2cm recess where the dummy supports are set back so looks ok. Anyway, the decision is made now and I think will look fine with the lids closed, the top deck will be open as these are all full rigged guns. Cheers Steve
