Greeting all, A good suggestion was made to start a thread about detailing the Amati/ Hachette Black Pearl model. The idea here would be to add links to images of the the "real" Black Pearl (interior and the exterior) to be able to more accuratly detail the model. With so much of the interior exposed for viewing it, it would be good to have reference photos for the the main cabin, the brig, and the gun deck. To start with I am surprised there is a lack of stairs down to the brig deck! The staircase is clearly visible in the movie but not included on the model. Here is a link to an image of the brig: http://static2.wikia.noc...ges/0/0e/Proposal26.jpg
Here you can see the main mast in the middle and in the back ground you can see the stairs going up on the right with the landing and last few stairs on the left. I do not know if the stairs are fore or aft of the main mast. You can also see that there are only two cells instead of six. The lanterns are hanging on the columns instead of in the middle of the beams. The roof detail is visible too. I hope that everyone interested in this mmodel will add more image links. Thanks, Christopher Current builds: HMS Victory Black Pearl

Those are a great series of images, thanks. You are right Steve. :-). There are some images of the other ships used that have huge black and white balloon attached where the top mast would be. Christopher Current builds: HMS Victory Black Pearl

Hi fellow pirates.
I have always wanted to make the black pearl but was put of by the Chinese version, that's why I ended up doing the victory instead.
Even though I have subscribed to the Hatchette version I'm still very wary, they don't have a great reputation when it comes to part works with bits and issues missing completely.
On saying that I intend to improve it where I can. While doing a bit of piliging on the net I found these builds
Link to MadDogs Build
Link to Mickeys Build
(Both in German, view and use Google chrome to translate!)
I really like the idea of lighting the pearl!
Link to Japanese Build
(Click the big yellow box for a clue of what's in issues 101 -135!
and Bernd sent me the link to the Russian site which supplys information on whats in each issue, a bit disappointed to say the least!
Russian week by week issue supply 1-100
I think there might be a lot of scratch building later on in the series. yo ohh Happy Building, Russ On the workbench: My Victory Build Diary - Victory Cross Section Build Diary - Black Pearl Build DiaryUnder the Bench: Millenium Falcon, Black Pearl x 2, Coral Victory Cross Section, De Lorean

I have to be honest, looking at the parts with every issue some of them look very poor value for money once you get into the 40's and 50's - issue 59 for example, a single piece of mdf with 2 cutouts! I have already subscribed to this but I really don't think the end product will justify the 120 weeks of £5.99 Steve

Issue 97 shows resin or plastic boats - is that fairly standard in partworks? (I noticed the canons bases were made the same previously but surprised to see the boats to be!) EDIT: ["Unless I'm wrong issue 100 appears to show a pre-painted figurine?"] - in hindsight I think it might have been painted by the end user before the photo was taken! I'm surprised that so much is MDF/Chipboard - I expected a fair amount but I didn't expect things such as the handrail (correct me if I'm wrong) to be made from them, with it being so prominently on display (issue 87). It appears that the Black Pearl collection has been extended in Germany, with another 20 issues added, which includes a display plinth, nameplate, hand-painted crew members and more cargo etc
http://www.bau-die-black-pearl.de/sonderausgaben/
Unsure if the UK collection will also be extended to 120.

Just checked and the UK version is stating 120 issues. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

I have emailed them to find out if the extras are included in the UK version. I will let you know when I get an answer. You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.
