I was sweating on issue coming today re no Bamboo planks left to continue and the newsagent had their ordered magazines delivered to another newsagent by an address error by the distributor. Cursing Crying

Said they'd ring once located and had delivered to the right newsagent.Angry

Hopefully the issue will be there by the weekend.BlinkGlare

So back to my PS3. I'll take my anger and frustration out on a few robots and other weird creatures in Borderlands 2. Mad Laugh

Hi. BigGrin

Well issue 20 finally arrived at newsagents Friday morning.

Instructions in issue is to plank to row 10 bow to stern, However I could only plank to row 10 one side and row 9 the other. It was short by three planks and I used every plank in issue even one split on one end.Angry

One plank cracked on bow but left as won't notice with filler in later. BigGrin

Anyway pics below of where I am to date.BigGrin

She's looking good George, planking looks great... Think you will find as the build progresses you will have more planks than you actually need. I have a pile of planks left over but they will come in handy for other build later I'm sure... Cool Cool . Keep up the good work, the shape of the lady is really starting to show now...

She's coming along very nicely George. She's a big model this one. I'm just coming to grips with the size of her. Lucky we've got time to think about how to put her in a case.

Hi Alan. BigGrin

Thanks for the compliments they are as always appreciated greatly.Cool Cool

Re the plank shortage it just that it puts me waiting again for next issue Thursday coming. A little bit annoying when I could just about have all the bottom planking done if more planks in issues. I'll just have to grin and bear it.BigGrin

Hi Mathew. BigGrin

Thanks for compliment, appreciated mate. Cool Cool

I'm not sure yet just how or where I'll show mine off. The lounge room coffee table is in the lead so far. However protection from Grand-Kids when they visit will determine the end position.BigGrin

Hi George, that's the nature of partworks I'm afraid, always slow to get going but later you may find it difficult to keep up with the issues...Cool Cool To get over the frustration of waiting for issues to arrive many builders resort to taking on a smaller in between build. There are many fantastic smaller kits out there to get your teeth into so it may be worth having a little look around as to whats available....

Alan

Hi Alan. BigGrin

Would love to do what you have suggested re another in between model to keep my hand in, but unfortunately as a aged pensioner (I'm 75.)I just can't afford it re our budget. I keep entering Tomick's competitions for free models hoping, but not holding my breath.LaughIf I did win I think if it was not a ship in the comp., I wouldn't mind the "spitfire". I grew up with them in England flying over my house as a nipper and watching the "Dog Fights". BigGrin

Hi George, can only admire you for taking this on at the age of 75..it just goes to prove age is not a barrier for new wooden ship builders, all credit to you, think you are doing a superb job.... Will have everything crossed you win one of the competitions one day and from what I see the spitfire is a superb kit to put together... Will be following you all the way....

Best regards

Alan

hi,

this is great, I have just spent the last 15 mins pouring over the build posts, very much impressed.

I know what you mean about waiting for new issues, it seems to take an age for them to come, but I suppose that is part of the fun of building these.

I will be eagerly following this.

Marc
