Issue 23 contains a couple of pages of information about the principles of hull and bow fairing.
Issue 17 (where the first hull plank is laid), contain's bow fairing information within the steps, but the information below (from 23), gives better explanatory information of why hull frames must be faired before any hull planks are laid.

Cheers for that mate. There are quite a few things I'm still unclear on, but it's best that I leave my questions until I'm at the particular stage I'm having problems with. I'm sure there will be many members to help me out

Pity the info is coming in 6 weeks after issue 17 when I started fairing the hull and fixing planking!!

This is my first major model building exercise tho I do a lot of woodwork and I have only just found out about and accessed the forum on the Internet after failing to get any sense out of DeAgostini UK, South Africa and here in Oz!!! I have fared the structure using the flexible sanding device which worked well and rather than a file I stuck sandpaper onto different lengths of narrow wood which also worked well. So, I am doing OK with the fixing of the planking and have done 9 rows now and getting better each row.
This Forum is working well but no more queries at the moment. I am reading all the comments for background. Just picked up Issue 21 today so a long way to go. Cheers, Peter G

Peter Really hoping you have a great Time with your build. Any concerns or issues you have will resolve themselves with the help of this forum. There are some really experts on here, the official builder in the guise of Mr T and a whole host of people who may have asked that question you want to. You've started your build at a time when many have completed theirs and been through all the stages you are approaching. Although I'm not building SoTS I had the same problem with HMS Victory. I was not even aware that there was a web site like this. I think it was only by chance I found it.
I found different options that could be used in the early stages, like balsa wood in the bow and stern, that I could have used but was well past that stage.
I guess what makes it harder is that we downunder miss out because we get the releases for these models well after Europe and other countries. So, a lot of what we read happened a good 2 or 3 years ago.
