Hi Dave. That's a very intricate and involved model you're putting together and doing an absolutely fantastic job with it. I had to look at your pics a few times to get a full idea of just what is involved. Certainly lots of parts and fiddly with it. Will definitely look in again to see as you further progress. Regards George. Building HMS SOTS

Sat in the garden today and got the compressor out, I finally have the hull sprayed up with soe other parts too. I originally stuch the achor chain down to be paint kure grey as it is in a reference book I have but I am now wishing I hadn't. Its a bit late now to do anything about it so I am thinking of perhaps doing a black or steel dry brush on it, what are your thoughts on this? Im sure you can imagine how much paint is need on a hull this size. I made up a while pot 10ml pot of Tamiya Kure Grey with the addition of 5ml of Ultimate Airbrush Thinner. I just kept going with the spraying and other parts until they had a nice coating (several light coats) and I ran out of paint. I actually managed to work my way through 3 airbrushes Due to the heat they get clogging up. I have a H&S Ultra 2-1 and 2 cheap chinease generic airbrushes, 1 with the side cub and one with the bottle that goes under the end of the airbrush, the latter being the one used for most of the hull due to its size. As SWMBO is away visiting her sister, I had to stay at home as working 12 hour day shift tomorrow, I will make some food grab a beer and get to back to the modeling cave Parts 1-3 of the GT-R arrived today

Hello Dave Love these Tamiya kits as you really start with a great base kit on which to work. Your getting a good finish on your paintwork despite this aweful weather at the moment (guess who prefers the coolness of winter? ). Looking forward to seeing more if your build. Your really showing some expert skills with that photo etch. It's not easy to work being so small but you have done a fantastic job and it will really add that little extra to your finished build. Happy modelling Tony Happy Modelling

Regards Alan Glad I can help with some ideas for yours I have been quite surprised with how well I ended doing the photo etch to be honest. I think it's just a case of residing yourself to the fact that you are going to drop it, pick it up, try to position it, drop it again and repeat numerous times, on you accept that this is going to happen it becomes quite enjoyable

Hi Dave Your right about the etch gremlin causing problems like it pinging off into the ether never to be seen again or like me its found 6 months down the line sitting there where you looked several times. To me etch gives a finer edge to the detail that can be added to a model and well worth the effort and sometimes the trauma of fitting the stuff. Keep up the good work Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Dave I find this is invaluable for etch work as you can hold the pieces down as you trim them off the sprue ,this is the small version but they do do a larger one http://www.scalemodelsho...et-standard-sms015.html
