Having got the house move done, and enough of the house done to keep SWMBO on her leash  , im looking at starting my build (inc possible diary, from the start) but wondered am I better following it mag by mag, as I have all 120 issues, or can I, for example, get the cannons all done, or the anchors all done and put them to one side until needed? I think I know what the answer will be, but other opinions will be listened to  Another thought, how many who have completed the Vic have done it unpainted? I have the paints and stuff, but looking through the 1st issue, it does look smart in natural wood, etc, I just dont think my handskills are good enough to do this justice 'au natural', just wondered if any had been completed in that way though? Hi, there is nothing to stop you constructing all the cannons and anchors first, in fact many builders wait until they actually need the cannons and build them as a job lot. I would however recommend you follow the build instructions week by week, follow Mr T's official diary closely who gives a vast amount of extra information relating to this build. As for unpainted versions, suggest you have a look at Bernd's build as a starter.. Link below: http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=4698

Hi Wildrover As tempting as is to jump ahead and "Cherry pick" some of the bits to build first I would strongly recommend following the magazine build instructions and official build as far as the ship is concerned to save yourself problems later. Jumping ahead can find yourself missing some crucial elements earlier in the build. As regards the canon and anchors I would suggest ould not cause a problem if you handled these on mass. Thanks Alan and Tony, I thought that would be the answer, lol....I think I will follow your advice, and probably just do the likes of the cannons and anchors, etc as mass production, for as Tony says, it would result in a consistent paint scheme (The endeavour im doing has suffered from this - the colours dont look quite the same, despite knowing i used the same colours, albeit nearly 12 months apart due to it being stop-start). The rest will be following the impressive builds by others (Cant believe this started in 2010, and im only just getting round to it!  ), and Tomick's build of course! Well I am going to throw the cat amongst the pigeons now. The artwork build sequence is designed to keep you interested especially at the start when you are just getting lots of frames and plating materials. Following the mag step by step is easiest if you don't want to get lost but the build sequence does necessarily follow build logic. If it was me I would leave the cannons, anchors and ships boats until you need something to break up the tedium of planking or worse coppering the hull. My only caveat to the above is follow the rigging stages step by step as they are complicated. Al depends on how comfortable you are fluting about amongst the instructions.
