Hi,

How much paint can I expect to use in the spraying of the Hummer assuming I use a primer, base coat and final coat(s) as I have never spray painted a model before, and any useful tips would be appreciated.

It depends on the volume of the aerosol and how many coats of each that you apply.
One or two primer and two or three of top coat, though like I said, it depends on how many coats you wish to apply and the can volume.

The plastic of the body is high impact polystyrene (HIPS), therefore any paint suited to this is okay to use. The common aerosol plastic paint is the Tamiya TS range.

Here is a tutorial of how to go about it..

I managed to do it with one can of Tamiya primer (Tamiya primer cans are bigger than their paint cans) and two cans of Tamiya yellow gloss for my top coat.

That was more than enough in my case.
