Wasn't sure where to post this but wanted to share with all.

Yesterday afternoon my almost 4 yr old grandson arrived having just come from a party in his pirates outfit complete with sword and iron(plastic) hook borrowed from Captain Hook etc.

I invited him to visit my newly re-organised study and dockyard to show him progress on HMS Halifax. After listening patiently to my explanation regarding planking the hull, how high the masts will be etc., he had just two questions, where were the pirates on the deck and WHERE WAS THE CROCODILE?

Admin please note, there is no information available as yet as to which issue of the Victory the crocodile will be in. Ben needs to know this ASAP.

Hi,

Good question from Ben!

We're not sure what issue to do the croc yet as we haven't worked out what kind of crocodile to do. There are so many to choose from - salt water or fresh water; American, Australian, Nile (I think that's the one with the long snout).

Just looked on Wikipedia and there is even a Mugger Crocodile (sounds good)

I think we're going to have quite a bit of research on which would be the historically accurate one to do !!Laugh

Any help appreciated!

it wasn't a crocodile!! He was biting his finger nails and didn't know when to stop!

Sorry getting very silly now (guess who Ben takes after!)

While I'm on-line, Admin how is the dispatch department doing, I am gasping to get on with issue 2

As well as the crocodile will the model include the brass plate on the quarter deck that Nelson tripped over and was killed?

Those of you who joined the forum in the early days may remember this fundamental question which even Admin tried to answer - Where is the Crocodile?

Ladies and Gentlemen .... I now have the answer!

He (or she?) has been lurking on the quayside at Hartlepool although I'm struggling to work out the connection with HMS Trincomalee.

...

David Gray and I had a good day out and I'm sure David will be publishing some of his pictures as will I when mine are relevant to future discussions.
