Glad you like them Cool

Not sure about being anyone's 'better' (it's a very abstract term and I would bet my house that you are better and more successful at quite a few other things than me.

Funnily enough, this is a theme that I am currently hotly debating (in a friendly, smack-talking kind of way) with an American friend - owner of 24 Golden Demon trophies AND a Slayer Sword (The ultimate accolade in certain painting circles) whilst I only have four and a Forge World Best of Show plaque

Crying (not really, four is quite good enough considering the competition)

However; The one time that I did compete with him, I came home from Chicago with a England 2 - El Paso 0 result

@ Tom S (if he's watching) Flapper

I secretly concede that he is a better painter than I am, but it sure is fun to rub my victory in from time to time...

LOL

Anyway; Thanks for the vote of confidence. I hope you enjoy the results of using the tool.

Sure, I'll send you a PM.

However. Yours will be the last tool that I will be making for a while. Due to family health problems I am likely to be somewhat distracted over the course of the next few weeks.

I will update this thread when things settle down a bit.

Cheers.

One of your stamps please 'Cpt', tried to mold the 'GR'etc myself, decided it would take hours to do all the cannon, will be well worth a fiver!
P.s. would using washing-up liquid when applying mould stop it sticking, it would make it easier to clean off afterwards?

Hi there,

From looking at Cpt. Stedders photo of his cannon, I am curious as to what was used to finish the wood on the carriage? I notice that it has remained pretty much the same colour as mine after I sanded it down, but varnish seems to make it go much darker. I have tried some teak oil and it has also gone a bit darker, but in this photo it is still very much like the really light colour achieved after sanding!

Can anyway suggest what has been used?

Thanks,
Tom

So that's how it's done. I was wondering how the good Captain sculptured the GR on his 12 pounder (saw the awesome cannon in his build thread). I assumed he used the so-called green stuff (thanks for the tip by the way) but I was rather baffled about the exact procedure. I like the stamp idea but I don't think I'm "eligible" for one of those stamps... living in Germany and whatnot.

Great job.

oh... btw: hello "Model Space - Ship Modeller" forum Smile
