Hi Guys, I wouldn't be too quick to bin your blunt nails as they do have their uses. Whilst sharp nails are much easier to position and hammer in, they also have a tendency to split wood as the sharp point causes the wood fibre to part. Blunt nails on the other hand tear through wood fibre and are much less likely to split the wood. This is more especially so of tight grained hardwoods. Pre driiling holes where possible is also a good idea. I intend to do this with the deck panels to make sure the nails go exactly where I want them to. Jimmy L.
current builds : Lancaster 1/32 (Hachette) Revell USS Kearsarge Titanic Lifeboat
I started off with nothing and I've still got most of it left.

Thanks. i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.

I was just putting the lower deck on today and found that a number of nails had their sharp ends missing...I should imagine that it was down to their mass production...but don't throw them away as they can be used in various stages of this build, such as, if you need to strengthen or re-enforce a particular join...I always drill a small hole in both parts and insert the duff nail in both parts and put together with super glue makes one heck of a strong join... Current Builds: Deagostini HMS Victory: Deagostini HMS Sovereign of the seas. Completed Builds: Del Prado: HMAS Bounty: Hachette: RMS Titanic: Del Prado: Cutty Sark...

You can drill in the centre of the rib alot more accuratley than blindly or follow marks left on the rib. Then super glue of you choice. Im doin that i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.
