I have purchased a complete set of issues from a Japan merchant and will begin building soon, the detail is most impressive for far, great job by Deagostini to produce such an iconic model!
That being said; I do to see any aftermarket 'detail up' sets available; such as machined parts, nuts and bolts,etc- other the the Musuem collection decals. I see details sets offered in the smaller scales, even for the big Pocher kits, have any of you found any detail offerings for this kit?

Hi Eagle As far as I am aware (and I have done a lot of searching) there are no after market parts available for the MP4/4 apart from the decal sets as you have found out.. For a company to mark aftermarket parts they will need to have a licence agreement with the manufacturer and I can imagine the costs involved would not make it viable for someone to do. Eagle, This site is probably has the most 1/8 scale parts for our builds so far. A lot of 1/8 Aeroquip fittings and braided lines. http://shop.autographmodel.com/scale-1-8_3
RB Motion has a few items worth looking at. I did call them and asked if they will have any 1/8 parts for the Mclaren and was told not at this time but he told me he was getting a lot of calls for products and he probably will make some soon. http://rbmotion.com/
This is a site from Japan. At least when I clik on this bookmarked site on my computer, a lot of pictures of the real Mclaren comes up. Should be helpful with a lot of exterior shots but not many with the bodywork removed. http://www.museumcollect...uto/mclaren/MP4-4_I.htm

I´m trying to up-grade the brake disc screws because the originals are just fake ones made of plastic. I found in a Poland store (www.rbmodel.com) 2.0 mm screws that are exactly the same size and shape of the original. For doing this up-grade I just cut the fake screws off using a shave blade and made a hole with a 1.0 mm drill. But, I haven´t received the screws yet. As soon as I get them I´ll tell the results. I´m now wondering if it´s possible to apply some clear cote on the body. Does anybody have tried to do that?

Nice idea to replace the brake disc bolts; are you planning to add safety wire to them as well? I am not sure about your question regarding "clear cote on the body" are you referring to the painted bodywork? It already has a very nice gloss finish to it and does not need a clear coat.

Hello Eagle!I´m sorry I wasn´t clear in my question but, yes I´m talking about adding some clear cote on the painted bodywork. Well, I´m not very satisfied with the original gloss finish... Believe me, it could be better! In relation to the safety wire, I found a nice metal piping wire in www.hiroboy.com that I think it will fit. Thanks for your comments!

Clear coating is fraught with potential disaster if you're not 100% sure what you're doing, but I guess you do!! I think the model looks absolutely fine as it is, but if you want to risk it..
