Hi Pinks, looking good buddy but, I think you may have transposed the rear side walls (parts 78 & 81).......Part 81 that has the shallower tab cut out at the front goes on the port side to allow the next panel (part 83) to also fit onto the frame..........Part 78 has a deeper cut out and this goes on the starboard side flush with the frame for the cutaway section...... Working on the theory that a picture is worth a thousand words.... This is the port side with the two walls sharing the frame....  This is the starboard side with the wall flush with the forward edge of the frame.............  Tony

Hi Tony, yes, you are exactly right, I noticed this last night when all of the glue had dried. I now have the fun of carefully prising off the panels and restarting. a little bit frustrating but...to look on the bright sided, at least I get to drag these issues out a little longer   . I will be carrying out the repair over the next few nights and then post the refreshed pics. It is all a learning curve and at least I have re-learned a valuable lesson...MEASURE TWICE, CUT/GLUE ONCE!!! thanks for the update though Tony, glad to know you are all looking out for the beginners. Hi Pink, It's not a big deal, everything can be fixed - if you used pva on plywood then water on the joint can soften it for removal but, as the frames are mdf then you need to be very careful you don't soak them as they can expand and distort. Good luck with it anyway Steve

I would be tempted to leave the one you have glued in place and just modify the other side piece, it may save you a lot of hassle..........Tony

You could always add a piece to the frame to allow a gluing surface for the next piece You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

Hi all, I was considering carrying out one of the alternative repairs but I eventually decided to try to strip back and re-build properly. I must say, I am glad that I did. As you can see from the pictures, the only issue that I had to overcome was that I split one of the gun ports in half, but with a little glue and a couple of heavy duty clamps....all was as good as new. Next up was re-assembly. With one thing in mind(once bitten, twice shy) I used a bit of common sense this time and laid the pieces out BEFORE using any glue, and putting the whole thing togeyher the right way round this time. Continuing with the rest of the panelling up, I have come across another problem....it is very easy to damage and split the gun ports whilst trying to remove them from the frames. this is due to the size and thickness of the pieces. So, rather than try to use a craft knife to cut them out, simply use the drill at the connection and just drop out free of fuss as pictured. May seem obvious but already licking up alot of little tricks to ensure this goes as well as possible. Pinks666 attached the following image(s): Happy Modelling

Great work getting round that Pinks, your 'Pearl' is looking good........
I use an Exacto razor saw to cut out the bits and it works fine as you only need to use the tip of the saw blade to sever the pips that hold the bits together...........Keep up the good work buddy...........Tony

Things are going a little slower than expected. though the wood dye that I am using is giving a great colour to the wood, it has taken me 7, 2 and 3 coats respectively as pictured below, so as you can see, alot more is required.
