Hi everyone,
I've a question for anyone that's decided to use the aftermarket decals which include the carbon fibre for the monocoque, break ducts etc.
Obviously black carbon fibre doesn't make much of an impression when applied over black plastic is, I was wondering if anyone as painted the monocoque a shade or two to allow the CF to looks as it should (after all, black CF over the supplied black plastic parts won't give it it's best showcase) have having bought everything I could to augment this wonderful model I'm keen not to "c*ck it up" as they say.
By the way, the bits I bought and speak of are:-

Not sure if you can see but the nose section comes with some natty , real wooden end plate strakes!
Anyway, some guidance would be greatly appreciated

Hello Arrow Wolf!
I just bought 4 carbon fibre decal sheets from Autograph, but I haven´t received it yet. I confess that I wasn´t worried about the appearance of the carbon fibre over the black plastic nose, but I have, anyway, decided to paint all the cockpit, the nose and the chassi because I wasn´t happy the way they look. I haven´t finished yet, but I have, so far, applied some coats of Tamiya White Primer on the nose. I´m waiting for the Lacquer Tamiya Thinner in my local hobbyshop and as soon as I get it I´ll start to apply some coats of Tamiya Semi-Gloss Black. I´ll post some photos as soon as I get it done. Mr.Wolf: I used the MC carbon decals over the nose section painted semi gloss black; if I had it to do over again I would have used a gunmetal or similar color as the Cf texture can barely bee seen. Look for my build post under Eagle for photos. I would also recommend the tire markings Museum Collection sheet as it adds some nice details to the tire sidewalls and rim edge: Autograph should supply you with a printout of some paint recommendations with the decals, the MC instructions are all in Japanese.

Best Wishes! Dear Pompeuribeiro, Thank you for the above, I can't express how much I really admire the way you've decided to paint everything! (I know that supplies are difficult to get in Brasil so I hope your local hobby shop comes through with the Tamiya thinners for you soon!) I'm not sure I have enough confidence in my own painting abilities to tackle it myself. I think I will limit my self to an undercoat colour to make the carbon fibre decals stick out  These decals are really impressive and it's the sheer size of them which are a little daunting (especially when compared to 1:32nd scale aircraft  ) I see gallons of Micro-Sol or Mr Mark in my future !! "Eagle"s reply below is just what I wanted ... it reinforced my 'gut' belief that a lighter colour was need to show off the decals.... full steam ahead then! That's exactly the confirmation I needed! I'll definitely take your advice and use a gunmetal/steel shade of metallic under the CF decals.
I love the look of those tyres .. I can't get over the fact they're decals; If you hadn't told me I would have sworn you'd added the "written" stuff yourself. I actually thought, when I first saw them, "Wow, Eagle's got a steady hand!".
You could have got away with that one
I'm now off to scrutinise your build thread and glean as much as I can from you.

Does anyone know of a cheat sheet for the decals? There are many in the set that do not make sense yet. The biggest thing I am hung up on now it the sidepod frames for the intercoolers. I can't find a carbon fiber decal for those so struggling on how to finish it. Thoughts?

Hi Grant Don't forget some of the monocoque is of the Amber style carbon & would need a different base colour regards Dan Built - MP4/23, Zero, Deagostini Falcon, Model Airways 1903 Wright Flyer, Senna Mp4/4.
Working - Mclaren M23 1/8th scale to complement the Deagostini MP4/23 & Mp4/4
on the bench, Model Airways Sopwith Camel.
