Hi Spal,
Thank you for your time, when I new this kit was on the market I just had to build it, I would find it very hard to stash it. Looking forward to seeing your builds.

UPDATE:
Today I have placed the upper part of the airframe together, not a bad fit but could be better,a small gap at the front but overall I'm happy with it,also I have airbrushed a coat of Alclad2 Primer/Micro-filler that I am pleased with although it has two coats, this first coat I will rub down with wet/dry 1200 then spray again at about 10 psi to stop overspray and then again with 1200.

Small gap at the rear.

I need to reline this section no problem.

Last picture today well as you can see I have a lot of work to do with filling and rubbing down but I am convenient it will turn out as I have planed.

Regards
Trev.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for your comments and for looking in, I will be spraying all of the airframe with Alcad2 Aluminium ALC-101 so hoping for a reasonable result. Today I have come home with the new re-designed Airfix English Electric Lightning F.2A/F.6 I am not sure if the Lightning followed on from the Javelin but they look very good together.

Trev.

Hi Trev

Coming along very nicely indeed.

Is your lightning kit the new airfix 1:72 by any chance - should be a good build.

Was watching a program much repeated the other night that showed our aircraft production in the 1950/60's. The lightning was really something special. Our first Mach 2 fighter (the days when Britain was great)

If you get 5 minutes between all your builds BigGrin have a look at this site - some really good concise info from a time I love (but only 51 so do not remember).

Hi Tony,
First Thank you for the for the Javelin link I found it very interesting to read, also the Lightning (Airfix) is 1/48 scale so I hope it will fit in with the Javelin, what I have found is the Lightning kit has a pilot but the Javelin has not, so I have made a mould from it to place in the Javelin all happy days Tony.

Hi Steve,
Thanks for looking, I did find time to look at your link you sent, It brought back so many memories as a boy in the 50's my parents always took me to the Farnborough air shows, so I can remember most of the old aircraft in the link which helps me with my builds.

UPDATE:JAVELIN.
TAILPLANE SECTION.
This is as far as I have built so let's have a look first the Tail section, then on to the wings, then assemble to airframe and paint primer coat.

This picture show's Tail assembly with moving rudder.

Tail assembled.

Wing's assembled any gap's filled.

This picture show's underside.

This picture show's top side with 2nd Primer coat.

That's it for now but I am hopping to spray the first top coat this weekend, I will be airbrushing with Alclad 2 Aluminium to try to get that metal look.

Regards.
Trev.

She's looking fab Trev, think your preparation work is going to pay off.... Think it will be very tricky job to try and get an even metal look all over so will be watching closely to see how it turns out.... Cool Cool Knowing your standards I know you will do a great job.... Good luck with the spray painting...... Cool Cool

UPDATE: First Top Coat.
Alclad2/Aluminium/101

The picture below shows my work this weekend following on from the primer coat, I sprayed my first top coat, my main objective was to try to reproduce the shiny metal look I remember of the late 50's.With the spraying side as above I used Alclad2 Lacquers, with about 5psi reason is the paint is a very thin mix and with any more air pressure you will have overspray or a large run. My next job will be to use 1200 wet/dry and respray one more coat.

More to follow.

Regards
Trev.
