I agree, this is a huge problem seeing as this is a vital detail on the ship when they are all placed in line.

Ok about the altered cannons, this may have been done intentionally cos of the complaints about the caps being too big, the flared end to the cannon and the sharp edges to the thimble.
If so I'm all for it, the new cannon is a better representation of the original H.M.S Victory`s.
One thing that does bug me though is the no explanation of these things, I know its not admins fault I personally wouldn`t like his job, he`ll know as much about it as us, until he chases it up.
So I`m not going to complain about an improvement, I`ve now filed the flares off the end of my first cannons.

I`ve changed the name of this site on my favourites list to H.M.S. Victory mystery build

i doubt this is an intended thing.

for what i have been reading in posts this model is going to be FAR FROM a replica.

more along the lines a "what it vaigly looked like with minimal and inaccurate detials"

although if someone could answer what those 2 pins are for.

its bugging me lol

the 2 pins left over in the cannon kits are for pinning into the decks and cannon mounts to stop then moving
hope that helps
Alan

Thanks Alan, I can get on with it now.

BTW I think I must be unique, my 2 are identical (cannons that is).

John

My mistake, when I checked in daylight they were different.

Although the design of the barrel has been changed to a more accurate version, it is however now made of cast steel and not turned brass which is a much cheaper production, so if they can`t send two cannons free then we are in trouble on this build with this company????

Hi Guys,
Just been browsing through the forum and came across this from Admin:-

"Hi all,
Cannon update
Some of the cannons on issue 1 were faulty - as you were aware (thimbles broke off, hole in wrong place etc),this problem was also on a small amount of the canons at issue 14, which we could not rectify within the time frame.
However, from issue 18, the next cannon we have worked with our supplier to to rectify the problem with the cannon manufacture which has resulted in a slightly different shape of barrel/size of thimble. These new manufacture guns appear first at issue 18 (and will be consistent through to the end).
Thanks
Admin."

This partially answers the previous questions but why Admin posted it to the cancelled subscription post is beyond me.
Happy Building
