Hi guys, first post. I can not believe I pulled the trigger on this but I did and cant wait for my first pack. However, looking at my smaller models I realized I will need a display case and cant seem to find any that will fit this model. Any hints as to where I can buy one and how much I should expect to pay?

Mgizzle Welcome to the site. Please excuse my ignorance of your modelling skills but if you can obtain your own acrylic sheet from a home base type store and many would cut to size I am sure. You might find a cheaper alternative in making your own. Cornwall model boats here in the uk sell pre profiled case strip wood. They do ship overseas but sure one of your own stores such as model expo or micromark would stock something similar. http://www.cornwallmodel...splay_Case_Section.html
Just thinking any prepared case sourced from the uk will probably cost a lot in shipping such as when we purchased in the uk from overseas. Hope you manage to find something that suits your needs. Happy modelling Tony Happy Modelling

I think the link that Ian put up is a very good one. I checked his other listings and he has a 600 mm x 300 mm x 200 mm for £63 which I thought was very reasonable. Senna mclaren mp4/4 build complete mp4/4 build http://forum.model-space...spx?g=posts&t=12029

Ian good link tx. I googled for days and could not find a website selling 1:8 cases that seemed at a reasonable cost. I have never built one and started thinking about it but would hate for my first experiment to be on such an important model.
By the way, this is my first model so if anybody can point me to modeling 101 and some tool kits I would need that would be appreciated.

If you make a mistake with the superglue if your quick enough to get to it before it sets you can clean it up with water Supaheli

Super Glue is a cyanoacrylate adhesive. It's impervious to water! CA glue needs moisture as a catalyst to set, it's that simple. If you get superglue on your fingers together then you can soak them in warm/hot water to release your fingers but it will not remove the glue. Spencer

Hi,
I've been searching for ages for a display case for a 1:12th scale Ford GT AND my 1:8th scale Aston Martin DB5 (yes, if freely admit to being besotted with James Bond's Aston..) but whilst mooching around their site came across this: http://www.acrylicdisplaycases.co.uk/DeAgostini-Model-Display-Cases/
I'm certainly earmarking on for my MP4/4 !!
Hopes this helps

Hi Not sure what a shipping cost overseas might be but this offering on eBay looks very nice and comes with a few options such as mirror backing etc. 290837699772 Happy modelling Tony Happy Modelling

I ordered a display case from this website: pictureboxdisplaycabinets.comCost me £45 for the display case itself and £20 for shipping to the Netherlands. And was specifically built for the mclaren MP4-23. Though I imagine the MP4-4 fits just as well. Though unfortunately I no longer see the product on there. Which is strange, as I ordered just a week ago. You can still see the display case in the photo section. In case you are interested you can always mail them. They make those display cases to order.

Hi first post I am starting the build of the Sovereign of the seas and just browsing when I saw the question of display cases. I have seen a number of models displayed in fish aquariums turned upside down over the model base. looks ok and have seen some finished with timber edging.

I've used fish tanks for displays but never liked the quality of the glass and the massive silicone used to seal the corners. Best to use a source that makes display cases, there are many out there.

You can get an acrylic case thru Hornby (Pocher distributor). 308 X 643 X 205mm dimensions.....or 12 X 25 X 8 inches. I believ it has a wooden base. Cost is about $200. D51, Senna McLaren. Pocher Alfa Romeo 8C-2300 Monza 1931 1/8 scale. Pocher Lamborghini Aventador white roadster.Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari Enzo. Toyota GT2000.

I think I'll get two of the Hornby/Pocher Aventador acrylic display cases....one for the Lambo and one for the McLaren. In the meantime, I ordered a nice shelf unit from Sams Club and then installed some adhesive LED strip lighting from Lowes. Gary O attached the following image(s): D51, Senna McLaren. Pocher Alfa Romeo 8C-2300 Monza 1931 1/8 scale. Pocher Lamborghini Aventador white roadster.Tamiya 1/12 Ferrari Enzo. Toyota GT2000.
