Was it not advertised as - "Both the BBMF Lancaster and the CWH Lancaster perform a flypast together over "Just Jane" as she does a taxi run."

It appears that Just Jane was static during the flyover..

Hi All, BigGrin BigGrin BigGrin

I may be able to shed some light on the observation made by Mr T.

I was one of the very, very, lucky people to be at that display.Cool

To record two flying Lancs and a Lanc on the ground if all three are moving would have been nearly impossible as the runway at East Kirkby is not long.

"Just Jane" was in the middle of a taxi run when the two Lancs flew over, so I think a bit of poetic licence was used.

My efforts at recording the epic event returned mixed results, even with "Just Jane" static, but with lots of effort and a large slice of luck I have some records worth the effort.

Yesterday was a very emotional day when the "Three Lancs" combined and I don`t think I`ve ever seen so many people with more than one tear in their eye.

(Me included) Crying Crying

So, for the next few days I`m very busy at work, but hopefully by the weekend I should be able to put together some of the best bits of my efforts at photography.

Will post ASAP.

Ah well, poetic licence is allowed considering they'll not be seen in this manner again (other than the next scheduled event at Kirkby), and you never know, Just Jane might be in the air in the not too distant future.

Hi Mr T. BigGrin BigGrin

Can give you an update on "Just Jane", as in straight from the horses mouth.

Laugh Laugh

"Just Jane" now has several parts licensed to fly. All four engines obviously being one of the main items, but it is the airframe that is holding things up at the moment.

From what I understand there is a lot of investigative work to be done on the airframe, mainly the parts that cannot be seen and are not accesible by inspection plates.

These investigations are made by some sort of Xray device (way above my head at the moment) but will be enquiring as to how this work is carried out at my earliest chance.

One more thing to add, I`ve recently purchased a 1:24 scale Harrier GR3 Airfix kit and wouldn`t you know it they had a cockpit section on display of the above plane, so got some nice internal pics for reference. Cool Cool

Lastly, for anyone interested, on the 17th of September I have been granted access to RAF Scampton, home of the "Red Arrows" and base for the "Dam Busters".

Trip to include, RAF Scampton Heritage Centre, Guy Gibsons Office, his dog`s monument and some of the hangers. Report and allowed photo`s to follow.
