Well finding I am breaking the build sequence up a little... Anchors are presently being worked on but decided to try doing some of the detailed paint work on some of the ornamentation from issue 108.... .. Talk about small pieces.... felt like I needed binoculars rather than optivisors but am quite pleased with the results.... All needs a coat of Klear Cote for protection..... Happy building all.... Hi Gandale I'm just in the middle of attaching the angles on my jig.. any chance you could oblige me by letting me know the thickness of the false keel on the SOtS? (I haven't got the 1st issue yet) looks like you have the full length jig as well by your pics! I just used an MDF shelf 800mm long.. now it looks like i'll need to add the other shelf extra offcut using dowels to attach to the correct 1100mm size... Cheers! David. Promise too much ...and many will be in search of you!

Hi David, to be honest I cannot remember or check the thickness of the false keel but 4mm seems to stick in my mind for some reason but cannot be certain... I wouldn't wait until you have the first issue before fitting any of your angles to the jig as you need to ensure the brackets sit between the ribs, fitting now and you may find you will have to move some of them later as the rest of the keel arrives.... As for my jig, my shelf was 1m long by 23cm wide and 20mm thick and I still had room to spare both at the stern and bow.... Think you would get away with a shelf of 800mm long. Hope this helps.... Regards Alan

Brilliant job. Robin Thanks for the very kind words of praise Robin, think I still have a long way to go to reach your standards though but am working on it..... Wanted to take a little break from doing the anchors so thought I'd relax with a little painting job and will say I'm pleased with the results.... Looking forward to seeing these fitted to the hull though so will probably do that next..... .. Don't miss the sawdust.... .. Thanks again Regards Alan

davetwin wrote:Another great update Alan, those ornaments look great. What paint are you using? Hi Dave, appreciate the kind comments.... Paints being used are primarily those acrylic paints supplied by CMB apart from the Gold and silver which is Pentart Antic metallic gold and silver, plus a humbrol enamel red... The gold is not the easiest to use and has to be applied in very thin layers but I think it does give a great metallic look... thanks again Regards Alan
