Following on from a number of other postings on the recent price reductions for the Airfix 1:24 scale Harrier GR3 I thought anyone that has an interest in one might also be interested to have some further details of the Flightpath UK - RAF BAe Harrier GR.3 Detail Set.

I purchased this item a couple of weeks ago following my purchase of the Airfix kit. Looking through the internet there appears to be very few dedicated enhancement sets for this particular model which makes the Flightpath set rather unique in my view.

Rather than waffle on I hope that the following pictures will give you an idea of what your money gets you.

1. The set will arrive with all of the etch frames bagged and taped into the box to prevent them moving around in transit.
2. Resin parts consist of 2 Aim-9L sidewinder missiles and a BL-755 Cluster Bomb Unit. And 3 Resin cast main undercarriage wheels. Slightly odd that the wing-tip stabiliser wheels are not also included but I guess these are deemed acceptable in the actual Airfix kit.
3.The instruments are printed onto a small acetate sheet with instructions on how to add colour to the required parts. You also receive some pre-printed signs (more on that in a moment)
4. A large number of cast parts from FOD covers, seat cushions and parts, and a replacement main under carriage.
5. Etch parts consists of 4 large sheets which will give you a complete replacement cockpit (tub and seat parts of particular note). All the extras to build those side winders. And a whole host of other parts.
6. My only slight gripe (and this is a personal view) is that the fourth etch fret contains items that can be made up to add to a diorama scene. You get the aircraft armed signs to make along with some mesh covered bins. Fine if you intend a diorama scene but personal view I would have preferred this as an optional set and maybe a slightly lower kit cost. That said it does have a very nice boarding ladder that makes up from a whole host of etch parts.
7. The cost of this upgrade set is around the £60 mark so picking the model up for around £25.00 may leave you wondering if the extra cost is warranted. In my own personal view I think it will make a big difference but many modellers may instead rely on plastic card and epoxy putty to add some upgrades.
