fiff -raff they are 1/87 scale that would make them 3/4 of an inch approx.... ....which means they are going to be beggars to paint..

Ohhh that's small LOL - I think mine ought to walk the plank then I won't have any to paint !! You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

If you do decide to paint them then the vote we had a while back on how many to have, may just make YOU dive into Davey Jones' locker yourself. If memory serves 80 was the winner on the vote. Way too much work for me. I want 2 crews on the cannons, on the top deck. 5 on the masts. 5 doted about. 5 marines in the launch. Finally the man himself with a couple of officers. 30 is enough for me. It will all depend enormously on the costs involved. It may look sparsely populated, 30-80 out of 800+ (full compliment) but i want to fininsh in THIS lifetime i dont know what weapons will be used in ww3 but ww4 will be sticks and stones.

'80' figures, oh my good grief, time for a lie down and a dark and quiet room. Painting OO gauge figures gives me headaches, what on earth will 80 1:87th figures do to me (sobs mournfully)
LOL

Excuse me shouldn't there be 800 if it's realistic. I might get the hang of painting them after the first 600 or so.

Kev It shouldn't be that bad ... 1/87th scale is HO scale which isn't too far from 00 Scale... On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

I am thinking of having a word with some tribesmen - see if they can shrink more than just heads You do not need a parachute to skydive. You only need a parachute to skydive twice.

That's the sort of evil thoughts I'd expect of a Macem not a fellow magpie. Mind you, I wonder if any of the Chinese sellers on eBay do packs of painted HO sailors Kev

I have been following this thread and wondering where the 1:87 figure has come from?
The ship scale is 1:84 does it say somewhere that the figures are slightly different? I know the difference is small but just wondered out of interest?
I probably won't have the patience to paint many, if any, myself. To me the important objective is to achieve a ship model like those you see in the museums from the period. (no figures - no LED's!)
