Hi again Alan.

The turntables are very handy at times, the one I've got is plastic, 9" in diameter and about 3/4" high including the little rubber feet. It's actually a cake stand! One of the cheapest places to get one is from a cookery shop. I would imagine a 12" would be better for the SOTS size of model but they probably go up to 24" (Wedding cake size!) Despite being plastic they can take quite a weight (suppose they'd have to with a huge cake on them!)BigGrin
One good thing with them, if you do accidentally catch a protruding part of the model they tend to spin around reducing the chance of breaking something, but saying that, they're a right nuisance if you're trying to paint something and then it moves!!Blushing

Hi all, today I managed to finish the mainmast, a lot more work to this than originally thought...Blink Blink.. Deviated from the build instructions here by deciding to make up all the blocks and tie them to the eyebolts prior to fitting to the fighting tops... Cool [cool). They blocks supplied I thought looked to clean and new so gave them all a coat of light oak, think it looks better... Its important here to follow the plan very closely when it comes to fitting the blocks as it is very easy to place them in the wrong position....Cool Cool .. Mast assembly is straight forward but do ensure you place the coaming ring on the mast prior to applying the banding otherwise you may find the ring won't slide over the banding..Blink Blink .. Double check you have the fighting tops fitted with the correct orientation and ensure all fighting tops line up correctly.... Final task was to fit the eyebolts and blocks onto the mast caps.....Cool Cool .. It is also worth pointing out here, look closely at the lower mast cap for the main mast on the mast plan assembly and you should notice there are two small holes next to the hole for the second mast section. These holes must be drilled and I didn't see them mentioned in the assembly instructions. Drilling them before fitting is far easier than trying to drill them when the mast is in situ..... I used a 0.5mm drill bit and tested to ensure thread could pass through them easily. Cool Cool ... Mast is now sitting in place, has not been glued as yet....Cool Cool .. Hope to finish the mizzen mast over the weekend.... Happy building all..

Regards

Alan
