I live in Guernsey - there are German bunkers, gun emplacements and lookout towers everywhere. Some have been opened up and restored.

My old junior school was the German HQ during the occupation, and one huge fortification, The Mirus Battery, is also now a school, the main gun emplacement made into a miniature amphitheatre in the playground
