Stage 64 - Contains a landing gear housing parts fret, landing gear housing plate, landing gear pivot blocks.

Take wing plate 12 and lay it on the corresponding part of the template (both from Stage 58).

Turn the plate over and mark the inner lines on the template onto it, then hold a steel rule along the marked line and then roll along it with the rivet marking tool as you did before.

Repeat this process for the other lines on the plate, (be careful not to run the lines end to end as they should stop short where the rivet coner lines meet).

Use sandpaper to roughen the side of the plate that will be glued to the wing. Then test-fit the plate at the end of the wing in the position shown. Shape and file its edges if necessary, and pierce a hole into each corner.

Remove the plate and apply glue to the areas of contact and fix the plate in position, then fix a pin into each of the four corners.


Carefully store the parts provided with this stage in a labelled bag for future use.

Stage 65 - Contains a wooden parts fret (wing mount braces), captive nuts, screws and nuts.

Remove the undercarriage (u/c) support parts from the fret received with Stage 64, then smooth the edges.

Apply glue and fit the smaller of the two side peices onto the shorter side of the u/c support base, then glue the larger side piece onto the longer side of the base.
Ensure that both sides are set upright, then set the u/c support aside until the glue has fully set.

Use a fine file to remove any burrs the landing gear pivot bocks provided in Stage 64. You can test-fit them in position on the u/c support base, but DO NOT glue them in place. Carefully store the blocks in a labelled bag for future use.

Looking at the underside of the left wing half, locate the two ribs in the wing with the cut-outs shown. Then carefully cut away the section that spans the two rib cut-outs. The use a fine file to smooth the cut edges of the ribs.

Take the u/c support just assembled, test-fit into the underside of the wing into the space just made by cutting away the rib bottoms. You will need to cut out a section of forward side of the u/c support so that it fits beneath the square wing spar.

When happy with its fit, glue the support in place. You should ensure the u/c support is firmly glued, as it will later support the weight of the diecast metal undercarriage and also cope with its operating movement.

The final photo show's how the undercarriage support looks, from the top side of the left wing half.

Carefully store the parts contained with this stage in a labelled bag for future use.

Stage 66 is a repeat of Stage 65, but for the right wing half.

Stage 66 - Contains servo mount parts and screws.

Carefully store the parts provided with this stage in a labelled bag for later use, (assembled in 69 and placed at 121).

This time we assemble and fit the undercarriage housing of the right/starboard wing half.

Assemble the three parts of the u/c housing as shown. Then remove any burrs from the diecast pivot blocks from Stage 61. Then test-fit (do not glue) into the u/c housing base as shown.

Take the right/starboard wing half; Identify and then cut away the bottom section on the underside of the wing of the two ribs.

Test-fit the u/c housing into position in the underside of the wing, then mark andcut away a small section of the houing side to allow the housing to fit beneath the square wing spar as before.

When happy with the fit of the u/c housing, ensure that it is firmly glued in place.

The final photo shows both u/c housing's fitted.


Carefully store both pivot blocks inside a labelled bag until needed.

Stage 67 - Contains a fuselage parts fret, spinner screws and a length of steel rod (u/c link rod).

Start by retrieving the fuselage assembly.

Start by cutting away the central section (indicated by dotted lines) of the bottom of the fuselage frame shown, then smooth the cut edges.

Cut the fuselage beam part from the fret and sand the burrs smooth.

Test-fit the piece on the aft side of the frame just cut. Ensure that the beam piece is oriented so that its three holes are parallel with the three holes in the beam part just aft. Make any adjustments necessary then glue the piece in place, so that its end edges are flush with the fuselage edges.

Retrieve the nose section assembled previously.

Apply glue to the surface of the front nose frame on the fuselage, then combine the nose and fuselage sections, making sure that the joined frames are aligned.
Hold the two sections together with clamps, then set the assembly aside until the glue has fully set.


Cut the two remaining pieces from the fret and smooth the burrs.

Glue the smaller piece onto the larger. The parts should be aligned centrally.

This complets this stage of the assembly. Carefully store the panel just made and the remaining parts in a labelled bag.

Pack 18 contains Stages 68 - 71

Stage 68 - Contains Upper wing plates 6, 14, 15, 16 and a wing plate template.

Carefully store the skin plates and templates in a labelled bag.

Cut away the tops of the cutouts in the two ribs shown, then cut away the same on the other half of the wing. Use a fine file to smooth the cut edges.

If you have not already done so, you should now combine/glue both wing halves together as shown in Stage 58

When the glue has fully set, carefuly cut away the top span of the central joined ribs, then smooth the cuts with a file.

Remove the two wing mounting plate parts from the fret that came with Stage 65 and sand the burrs smooth.

Retrieve two of the captive nuts from Stage 65, then look at the Step 10 image for correct orientation of the parts and captive nut placement.

Apply epoxy glue approximately 2mm around the hole in one of the plate parts from the previous step. Place the part on a raised surface, so there is space behind the hole, and then lightly tap one of the captive nuts into the hole.
The nut should slightly protrude through the other side of the wing mount plate. Apply glue around the protuded side to further secure it, being carefull not to get any glue inside the threaded hole. You should ensure that both captive nuts are properly seated and secured.

Repeat to fit the remaining captive nut onto the other wing mount plate. Both should be should look symmetrical.

Carefully store the wing mount plates in a labelled bag.

Stage 69 - Contains diecast left & right wheel fairing and screws

Carefully store the wheel fairing s and screws in a labelled bag for later use.


Assembly of the u/c servo mount plate.

Remove the three parts from fret 1 provided with Stage 66, then sand the burrs smooth.

Test-fit the two smaller parts into the larger, then glue the two small parts in place.

Once dry, turn the assembly over and file the projecting parts of the smaller pieces flush with the larger piece.

Assembly of the u/c Servo mount.

Identify the parts shown in the photo on fret 2 from Stage 66. Remove parts A, B and C from the fret and sand the burrs smooth.

Glue the two A parts together, aligning the edges and holes of both.

In the same way as the A parts, glue the two C parts and two B parts together as well. Test-fit the combined B parts into the cutouts of A, as shown. Carry out any adjustments necessary to make it fit, and then glue into place.

Glue the C parts into A, opposite B, after making any adjustments to the fit. When the glue is dry, test-fit the servo mount onto the servo mount plate made earlier, but DO NOT glue them together.

Carefully store the servo mount plate and servo mount in a labelled bag for later use.

Stage 70 - Contains undercarriage strut halves and strut joints.

Place wing plate #10 on the template sheet (both from Stage 62) to confirm it is the correct plate. Then place plate 10 on the wing next to plate 12, flush with the edges of the surrounding plates and rear spar. Shape the edges to fit, if necessary.

As before create the rivet lines on the underside of the plate, following the dashed lines on the template. Then turn the plate over and lightly score lines following the solid lines on the template. Then gently roughen the underside of the plate with emery paper to provide better adhesion for the glue.

Apply glue to the contact areas of the wing ribs, then fit the plate in place. When the glue has set, pierce a hole in the plate at each point indicated in the instructions photo, then insert a pin-nail into each hole.

Follow the same process to mark and fit wing plate #8 (from Stage 62) next to the plate just fitted.

This completes this stage, carefully store the remaining parts in a labelled bag.

Stage 71 - Contains strut rams, wiring plate and washers.

Its advisable to familiarise yourself with the Steps of this stage before proceeding.

On the underside of the right-hand wing half, use a razor saw to cut out the bottoms of the cutouts in the ribs (dotted lines). Try and angle the edges so the cuts produce a roughly circular shape. Then Turn the wing over, and cut out the tops of the same ribs, in roughly the same shape.

Create a large cylindrical sanding block by taking such as an aerosol can that has an approximate diameter of 55mm, and wrap sandpaper around it. Insert the cylindrical sanding block into the hole created and sand the cut edges to finalise the circular shape.

Take the wheel well plate from Stage 61, and wrap it around the same cylinder used as the sanding block. Then fit the plate so that its cutout section is aligned with the end of landing gear housing. Its overall diameter should be approx 59-60mm and the ends of the plate not join but have a gap between as shown in the Step 7 photo.
Apply glue to the contact points of the landing gear housing and plate, but before the glue sets, hold a wooden strip along the ribs on the wing underside to ensure the plate does not project above or is below the ribs on the underside of the wing.

Ensure you apply glue to the contact points between the plate and the ribs, I used 5 min epoxy. The plate will be further secured at a later stage.

Note that this plate does not reach the tops of the ribs on the topside of the wingframe.

This completes this stage, carefully store the remaining parts in a labelled bag.
