You've done a fantastic job on those home-made palm fronds Steve and the basic layout of the diorama looks like it is just about perfect!!
Looking forward to seeing the finished diorama!!

Thanks for looking in guys, much appreciated Built the masterbox figures kit over the last few days, figures are not my thing so learning all the time but am quite happy with the result especially as they are not the focal point of the dio - Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Nice job on the figures Steve, they look great.
My only advice would be to maybe tone down the overall slight glossiness with a coat of matt varnish? They look a little too shiny, though I suppose it could be that they are soaking wet with sweat from the Pacific humidity?!
Looking forward to seeing them on the beach. Well done and thanks for sharing such a cool build with us.

Thanks Kev, the figures are actually not shiny at all, they do look a bit satin in the pics but this must have been the lamp i had on them. Will show another pic in daylight later Steve

Managed to get most of the base done, plaster of paris layer then a pre-mix of sand and pva glue and poured on as a thick paste - this makes sure there isnt any loose sand to come off. The area that is to be dry sand was then airbrushed a lighter shade, tamiya buff did the trick. Trees are in place and a few dead palm leaves. I need to let the base dry a few days now before I pour in some resin for the water. Steve stevie_o attached the following image(s):

Absolutely beautiful Stevie! You've done really well on those figures too. Are they single pose ones or like the old Airfix Multipose with varying arms and other bits? I love the bent over palm tree, brings the whole diorama eye-line down to the level of the Zero (and much less perspex if you want to put a cover on it!! Can't wait for the tide to come in! Thanks for looking in guys @Robin - the figures are these - http://www.amazon.co.uk/..._aui_detailpage_o00_s00
Although they are kit form they are not really multipose but they are fine for what I need them for. Like I said, prob have to leave everything to set hard for a couple of days now before I continue with the resin and perhaps some final weathering like salt streaks maybe. Steve

Great work Steve, very cool the way you've constructed the sandy beach and really looking forward to 'High Tide' now!! Love the way that the palms have cast a natural shadow across the sand as well.
Maybe when photographing the finished diorama, you could have a bright lamp suspended directly above the scene - to replicate a sunny midday in the Pacific with the sun directly overhead? That would make the shadows under the palms even more noticeable and maybe even put a sparkle on the water? It would certainly add even more realism to the already brilliant scene?
I was going to suggest doing the photo shoot outdoors at midday, under natural sunlight, but given our current longstanding weather the diorama might look more like a very wet and very realistic 'monsoon' setting!!?
Keep up the good work Steve, best build on MS at the moment in my opinion!!
