Thanks very much Steve,

really enjoying seeing it come along, there are a few mistakes but got some ideas on how I can fix.

I have already got my next ship lined up, I now have up to issue 19 for the victory...that's going to be a long build Laugh

regards

Happy Modelling

outer panelling finished and sanding has started in full.I think I shall be making a frame for the cut out window edge but will wait to see if I get one as part of the kit.

I have completed the first 4 guns as per the instructions, opting out of the red paint for the gun carriages....I just dont think it is pirate enough Cool . and I have also added some matt black paint for soot from the gunpowder.

I will be stealing an idea from Alan on using metal tomato pure tubing to make metal straps for over the guns...I very much liked that one.

Does anyone know if guns onboard ships of this time had wedges under the back of the gun for elevation? if so please let me know either way.

Hi All,

I have been busying away with thwe build, but as I have been spending ALOT of time struggling with the planking around the outside, I have not posted as visually....no progress.

I have been having serious difficulty trying to hold the planking along the sides... I have tried using modelling pins, dress makers pins, etc but they either split the wood or will not hold. after growing frustration I have taken to letting my glue go tacky and hold on the planks. seems to work quite well, if not a little time consuming.

Looks really nice so far Cool

With regards to the pins, have you tried pre drilling the holes for the pins first, you shouldnt get any splitting then

Hi Pinks666
I use the plastic version of those planking clamps. Here's the link

She's looking great Pinks, time consuming process but the results speak for themselves....Cool Cool .. The Victory build is ply and not MDF so you won't have the same problem when it comes to pinning the strakes in place..... Cool Cool

Thanks again all,

I have been at this again today, with good progression. i find that glueing the start of the strake (thanks for letting me know what they are actually called gandale Cool ) letting this dry, then glueing the rest and using clips as pictured seems to be working for me. At least until my new pins arrive.

I shall get cleared of issue 56 then repost once i have done "the slow"bit

see you laters all BigGrin Cool BigGrin Cool BigGrin

Could you measure the length of the cannon barrels for me please, I havn't got to that stage yet, but I have an idea that I need to plan for.
