I love this thread - its a South African forum and everyone posting is from the UK - so here we go, a saffa posting :) Looking forward to the build - first project in absolute years, been thinking of building something and was considering plastic WWII aircraft but this seems so much more of a challenge. Cant wait, got my 1st issue but holding back till maybe 2nd or 3rd or until I have my modelers kit. Current build : The Victory Pending builds : none - yet Built loads of bikes trucks planes and boats - all plastic kits. on wish list - a 1:24 spitfire, in wood, plastic, just as long as I can build it :)

Let me know and we could maybe chat about this wonderful hobby via e-mail. My 3 buddies and I are just about the last plastic scale modellers left in Potchefstroom and we always love to talk to another "Plastic-Head". Check this link for a few of my models: http://www.mediafire.com/?vl5534dfmv92r

Howzit Historian I might be interested in getting back into the plastic kits but I am going to concentrate on this project for the time being, time is limited and so we will see. If I get bored or the cna delays delivery I might just turn my hand again as I am buying paints etc again, also I will see how much I miss it Will keep you informed. I started my build today. Current build : The Victory Pending builds : none - yet Built loads of bikes trucks planes and boats - all plastic kits. on wish list - a 1:24 spitfire, in wood, plastic, just as long as I can build it :)

Hi People
I've been wanting to build a model ship for sometime now,
The Victory looks quite daunting but I'm quite excited about the build,
Any advice for begginers? Anything I need other than the tools provided? Things I should know before I start?

Hi Aaron In the same position as yourself. To get started I have read the build blog of the official build - that is helpful and I went to my local hobby shop for advice on tools etc. Mostly I have found the blogs here very helpful. Hope you enjoy the build , my first issue has been built painted and now waiting for part 2 - taking too long just cant wait to get stuck into part 2 Current build : The Victory Pending builds : none - yet Built loads of bikes trucks planes and boats - all plastic kits. on wish list - a 1:24 spitfire, in wood, plastic, just as long as I can build it :)

Hi guys. I'm new to this forum, but not to model ships. So far I've built a (very) small scale pinta, a plastic belle poule and am almost done with my 1:60 AL Endeavour. I'm also thinking of getting this Victory, to build with my son. My next project is going to be a scratch build, I have managed to find 5 different plans for various ships, after scouring the web. I am just wondering if there is any way to get the local suppliers to send the issues a bit faster, as I see the UK is up to at least issue 15, wheras we are only at issue 2 here. Bummer, we always seem to be behind... Part time modeller, full time biker
Built: Pinta Belle Poule (plastic) Endeavour Scratch build of Pirate ship "Neptune" (Based on cutter "HMS Aldebaran" Current builds: Victory

Hi
I just thought I would say hello on the right thread. I subscribed in SA on the 10/09/2010. I am currently building the Constructo HMS Victory, about half the hull planked. I have joined this build because the model looks to be far more detailed than the Construto kit. I intend to carry on with the Constructo in the time I have waiting for more issues to arrive.Right now I can not wait to get started.
Regards Ray
