Issue 76 reads in a way that makes you think you have to insert the frames in the holes on the gunwhales. However they obviously do not fit, so can I take it you just glue them on the front? Just want to make sure.

Hi Rob, you are correct in your assumption the cast rings do not fit inside the holes on the gunwales, they are simply glued in place making sure they are centred on the hole... I also thought the rings were too thick so I made the decision to grind them down using a dremel to a thickness of 1.5mm. Think they look much better..... Pics on the link to my build will show you what I mean.... http://forum.model-space...ts&t=5013&p=119
Hope this helps... Regards Alan

Thanks. I would grind them down too with my Dremel, but I'm not sure I have the right attachment. I have Some aluminium oxide grinding wheels. Would they do the job?

You could give the grinding wheel a try, it should do the job if done with care. I simply used a grinding stone cylinder but be careful when handling the casting, it does get very hot so you should do it in stages and let the heat dissipate between sessions..... Once done I'm sure you will be better pleased with the results..... Regards Alan
