Hi All,  First off thanks to Jase for looking in and the comments.  Well, I got home from work early enough to post the next part of issue 4, the pilots seat. Here`s the parts.Pic 1 The metal headrest plate has a score line on it, so it can be folded more accurately and the two brass rods did need a bit of heavy rolling to straighten them out. The main seat frame is made from four parts.Pic 2 The seat base and back are set at 90 degrees, then the sides added. Also shown in the next pic is the front seat base part.Pic 3 With the front base part fitted the seat and back pads are next to be added (shown in this pic). Before fitting, the top edges need to be filed so they have a rounded edge like a cushion. You will notice that the back pad already has ridges etched into it. (To look like padding)Pic 4 So here we are with the padding added.Pic 5 Now, Alan (Gandale) wanted to see some detail. Well here`s some,  Next part is to add the head rest plate and the arm rests. Firstly, addition of the head rest plate. Now I know what you`re about to say when you see the next pic. "It`s not straight on top of the seat" These pics have been taken with my Cannon EOS 400D, with a Macro and Wide lens adapter. (This will show the minutest detail error). The human eye won`t see it and it has to be painted as well yet so should be Ok. So that said, here`s the head rest plate fitted.Pic 6 The two arm rests are made from the brass rod and two small ply parts from the fret. The brass rod is cut to length and bent at a set distance from one end to form the arm rest frames. The Result.Pic 7 The two arm rest pads are made from the two small ply parts from the fret. The two arm rest pads are rounded on what will be the top edge and fitted to the upper surface of the arm rest frames.Pic 8 Lastly, two short pieces of brass are added as support braces for the headrest against the top of the seat back. So finally, a couple of shots of the pilot`s seat with "A PENNY in the PICTURE" (That bit was specially for "Jase") The pilots seat so farPic 9-10 I`m thinking of enhancements of the pilots seat and will see what turns up (if anything) prior to painting. I know what you mean about a macro lese picking up the tiniest of errors as I found myself

Hi All, Well here`s the start of issue 5. Firstly I`ll show you the parts supplied with issue 5 and then will explain how I would build this section knowing what I know now. So, here`s the parts supplied.Pic 1 The picture shows a plywood fret and some parts in a plastic bag. The parts in the plastic bag will make the navigator and engineers seats to be shown at a later date and support poles for the cabin area. ___________________________________________________________________ Ok, I`m going to take you back to issue 4 for a moment. This is where I had got too.Pic 2 Now this is what I would change: I would not fit the first two ribs on the left hand side or the rib on the far right of this section. The reasons being that you have to fit the engineer/ navigator table and it will be much easier to fit {having tried it) before the end ribs described are fitted. That said, it`s not impossible to fit as per the instructions but not so easy either. So having done it the slightly harder way, here`s the result. You will also notice that the end support for the table and a pivot shelf have also been fitted. (These will also be fitted easier if you leave the end ribs till after).Pic 3 So if you take what I think is the easier route, you can now fit the outer ribs (3 in total). Next you need to fit the support frames for the platform in the cabin. This is shown on the far bottom right of the next picture. These parts are very fragile, TAKE CARE.Pic 4 Well that`s all I can fit in at the moment (tired  , so more tomorrow. This will include: Fitting the back plate for the pilot`s console and support pillar. The finish of the cabin platform base. Fitting the main stringers to the cabin. Fitting the half ribs to the cabin section. Constructing the navigators and engineers seats. Fitting the two support poles for the cabin. Stringers for the left outer wing section will be updated soon after. Looks fab Del, is there anything support wise to run through the holes in the frames or is just the stringers in the square notches? Steve

Steve Hi Steve, The square stringers are the main stay to start with. The holes imitate the actual airframe shape and the outer surface of the frames are finished with the plastic/nylon stringers, as per the nose cone shown earlier in the build. Hi all, Firstly thanks to Nemesis and Modelmania for their comments and "yes" Nem the interior will be painted, (not for a while though)and prior to the addition of some serious detail. So, a short while ago, I said I would describe the method I used for making sure the cockpit ribs were straight when the main stringers were fitted. Easiest method I found was to measure the bottom of the ribs (where I new the ribs and base were at 90 degrees) and transfer these measurements to the main stringer. Achieved this by the following method. Mark a piece of paper where the centre of the ribs were at the base, then transfer the marks to the stringers. Fit the stringers only to the end ribs (as these were rigid)and then when set, line up the ribs one at a time and fix to the main stringers according to the relevant marks. The initial measurements.Pic 1 With the initial measurements transferred to the main stringers and the ribs set in there correct place you get this result. (The marks can just be seen on the main stringer)Pic 2 Prior to the fitting of the main stringers I did fit the cabin platform base and the back plate for the pilots instrument panel and the adjacent pillar. The next picture shows the back plate and pillar fitted in the pre-cut square hole of the floor panel and fixed to the end rib former.Pic 3 Next I fitted the cabin platform base.(shown bottom left of the pic) I fitted it prior to the main stringers but took the pic after.  Pic 4 With the main stringers fitted I then fitted the eight half ribs. There are no guides as to where the top edges of the half ribs fit, so I used the same method as the full ribs and used the piece of paper measurement method. Mark the bottom points and transfer them to the upper spar. Job done.(One side)Pic 5 Next, needed to fit two vertical hand rails in the cabin area. These are made from two pieces of brass rod and are fitted through holes pre-drilled in the base and fitted under the relevant rib sections. Shown centre of ribs 3+4 from the left.Pic 6 Last part for this session, is the construction of the engineers and navigators seats.(Identical) The parts: One seat back shown folded.Pic 7 The seat back and base are fixed at 90 degrees.Pic 8 The seat legs are then fitted under the seat and the metal back fitted around the seat to form the seat sides. End result:(x2)Pic 9 In between all this fun, I have been adding stringers to the main upper surface of the left outer wing section. Loads more to fit but this is where it`s at.Pic 10 So, where am I at:(up to issue 5) To do; The rest of the stringers on the outer left wing section. Done to date.Pic 11 Coming in issue 6 is the first engine build, but will be building all four engines to save time with painting etc. That`s all for now. Trev. Hi Trev, Thanks for your continuing interest. The stringers in question are of a plastic/nylon construction. They do stick fast to the wooden wing ribs (using super glue gel), when the appropriate slots are cleaned up a bit, but still take a time to fully set.
