Very nice Del, you're making it look too easy and that seems a sound method of getting the ribs correctly aligned, well done!! Cool ThumpUp

Kev BigGrin

Hi Kev, BigGrin

Many thanks for looking in and the comments. Cool

As for the rib alignment, my background as a teenager going into the world of work, involved technical drawing, engineering and electronics etc. So I try and find the easiest way to do and describe things, hence the paper solution.
Sometimes easiest IS best. BigGrin

Happy Building,

Hi Nem, BigGrin

Many thanks for taking the time to look in and comment. Cool

As for the engines, well this will take some time.

Reasons:

Obviously there`s four.

Basic engine blocks not a problem.

Second phase is detailing.

Then when in place you have electrical and hydraulic detail to add.

This is a mega kit "nose to tail".

Hope I can continue to do it justice.

BigGrin Nice work Del, when you get to the covering stage i would seriously consider making a jig just like tf64 did as there are lots of panels to ponce and it will cut down on the waste on the panels as i heard you only get so much paneling material and it can soon leave you short if the panels are not cut right first timeCool
Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi All,BigGrin

First, thanks to Alan, AR and Mark for the kind comments.

As for the covering (AR), I`ve not made any decision as to what will and what will not be covered yet.

It`s going to be a very long thought process, as there`s so much interior detail in this build, I don`t want to hide anything.

So, to issue 6 and the first engine.(I will show all four engines as this has to be the fastest way to complete this section of the build).

Engines appear in issue 6,45,81 and 96

The basic parts of each engine total 7.(All metal)

Some moulding lines do need to be removed from these parts and it pays dividends to do this carefully. A miniature file is good for this job.

Having spent some serious time filing the mould edges, it`s time for a major priming spray job.

The Results.Pic 1

A couple of close-up pics of the engine block (showing detail).Pic2-3

Last thing for today is the flat black top coat of all 28 parts.Pic 4

Well that`s all for now.

When the main parts are set, then there are some serious detail parts to add.

That`s for a later time.

Hi Steve,BigGrin

Keep watching, engine wise this is what`s to come:

Twelve exhaust pipes each engine.
Pipe work.
Oil tanks.
Electrics.
Hydraulics.

Detail to the extreme. Blink Blink

That`s why I`ve still not decided how much of this to cover.

The interior is even more detailed, even down to a screwdriver clipped onto the airframe.

I keep finding more detail every time I look into the instructions.

Hope you continue to enjoy.

Cool Cool Cool Cool

Hi All, BigGrin

Having base painted and top coated the main engine parts, it`s time for some assembly.

Before that though, you have to remove paint from certain bits of detail and surfaces where glue has to be applied. (sharp blade and files required).

Here`s the sequence of the engine main part build.

Engine block with sump added.Pic 1

Clean up where the exhaust pipes fit.Pic 2

Having cleaned up both surfaces, fit the Wheel case assembly.Pic 3

Next fit the super-charger.Pic 4

After the super-charger comes the carburettor.Pic 5

Next you change ends and fit the Reduction gear unit.Pic 6

Finally fit the electric generator drive.Pic 7

Well that`s the main engine parts together (x1), only three more to do, then "All" that needs to be done is add :

HT wire harness sleeve (x2)
Coolant rails (x2)
Constant speed governor
Vacuum pump
Starter motor
V block

and

Oil control valve.

Oh and forgot Blushing exhaust pipes (x12)

That`s on each engine, so this part of the build could take a while.

That`s me done for tonight.

Day off tomorrow, so will see what can be done. Blink Blink

Happy Building.Cool
