Alan, Thanks for looking, as you well know some times it takes a long time putting together a build diary but that to me is what this Forum is all about, and it is good to see how others tackle there problems, this is the first model Forum I have subscribe to and learnt so much. Hi Billbo, Thank you for your comments, I have just picked up on your post so thanks for that, you must try to get the wings as flat as possible but watch out for the curve on the leading edge just take your time and keep checking. Don't worry to much about the metal plating again if you take your time on this one and double check each plate you will be fine. I found that if you try the next plate along before you stick the first it will give you some idea about the alignment of the plates and read Mr T build you wont go wrong. Regards Trev. UPDATE:SPITFIRE. 150215. PACK 17. To day I have removed a centre section from the underside of the fuselage and replaced it with a small part with three holes, this has to line up with another piece to the rear of it, no problems but you have to try to support a best as you can while you are sawing. First job was to turn the fuselage upside down to locate the position of the central section to be removed, this picture shows the two lines where to cut. This is were you need to support while sawing. With the wood section removed sand down to a smooth edge, again hold tight to avoid damage. Next job was to remove all of the fret received for this stage, smooth down all edges and test fit the small piece with three holes behind the frame. You may find that you have to make small adjustments for a good fit, I then glued in to place making sure that the top edge fit's flush with the bottom edge of the fuselage. Last picture in this section shows the engine compartment glued to the fuselage it should all line up ok and no need for adjustment clamp together and leave to set. More soon Trev. Nice work Trev. I know you used to build a lot of R/C aircraft in the past, so this model must be right up your street and your skills in this genre are obvious. Very nice indeed mate and a good tutorial type diary too - well done!!

Hi Kev, First thank you for your comments Kev. Your wright Kev this Spitfire kit has had its moments but what kit hasn't, over all a great model I just wish more were building it, there is talk that it may go to the USA which will be good for all of us, but at the moment as you can see I'm trying to keep up with the build. Trev Been a while since I last checked in but great to see your build coming along so well. That looked a tricky part of the build having to remove then replace that small section, but very well done indeed. Happy Modelling

UPDATE:SPITFIRE PACK 18 220215. Hi Pack 18 has arrived looking at the pack it seems not a lot to do this month as was in pack 17 but I may be wrong, viewing the metal parts they do look good but it looks like metal plate 6 will need a bit of work. Today I will be working on the wheel housing Port/Starboard and will post as soon as possible. Regards Trev. UPDATE:SPITFIRE 250215 After fitting the Port/Starboard Wing landing gear housing the next step was to fit the wheel housing, but before that plate 10 had to be fitted to the wing. the next step was to fit plate 10 next to plate 12 making sure that it fits tight with the surrounding plates make sure all the ribs are clean from glue from plates near by, then drill and pin holes were indicated. This shows were I have cleaned away glue. Now to fit the wheel housing, for this you will need a Saw-file-knife-glue, first I turned the wing upside down, then locate the two ribs to be removed I found that it was best to cut at a bit of an angle so long as it looks round. Then I turned the wing over and cut out the tops as near as to the same shape, Regards Trev Work in progress: Tombstone (Scratch) - San Francisco 2. -The Mayflower ( scratch by plan).

UPDATE:SPITFIRE 140315. WHEEL HOUSING. Today I made a small amendment to the wheel housing trying to ensure that both holes are circular, although the plate won't hold to shape but as long as it is curved. Next I held the plate in a circle and aligned with the landing gear housing and glued to the contact points again ensuring that the diameter approx 60mm. More to follow.
