I don't know if anyone else has this problem. I seem to have run out of the eyebolts which delivered with Issue 63 whilst building the mast assemblies. I contacted DeAgostini and was told that they have no more copies of Issue 63 to send out (apparently they can't split packs open to send individual parts). When I asked the question 'Where does that leave me' they then replied that they will be getting more issues but not until the end of March. This means a 2 month wait for patts which are now holding me up. I'm not a happy bunny and I have told DeAgostini that I feel let down by them.

Hello Paul,
Many modellers here go to sites like
http://www.cornwallmodelboats.co.uk
when they have damages or shortages.
There are many types to choose from, just search down the left hand side for model boat and ship fittings.

best of luck Peter

Hi Paul, am sorry to hear about your shortage of eyebolts, this is not something I encountered when I reached the same stage. Rather than wait a couple of months for a replacement issue to arrive you could always order additional eyebolts from Cornwall Model Boats, they are not expensive, come in a variety of different sizes and are always handy to have spare in case of loss or breakage etc. If you do not want to go down the route of purchasing additional eyebolts then you could consider making your own from suitable brass wire. They are not difficult to make and they are just as good those supplied. This link hopefully will give you some idea on how to make them, also by searching youtube you should be find plenty of other examples.

Hope this helps.

Many thanks for your suggestions. I'll have a go at making some and see how they turn out. If they are a bit rubbish I'll buy some.
Out of interest I went through all the copies of the magazine from issue 63 (when the eybolts were supplied) to see how many were actually needed. By my reckoning a total of 182 are needed to complete the build up to issue 114. Only 150 are supplied !!

Hi Steve, more eyebolts are supplied throughout the series. I agree there is a shortage of these when needed but the series does catch up. Some eyebolts you will have to fit at a later stage as and when they arrive.

Hi Steve, there are more eyebolts to follow later in the build and before issue 135. If by the end you find you still have a few missing then simply request an issue that contains eyebolts for the qty you need. If you don't wish to wait then you can always try making your own, they are not difficult to make and would save you having to purchase from CMB who as you say, are out of stock....

I know how you must feel. The worst thing about this is, with all the complaints there were about HMS Victory. missing parts etc, you think they would have learned.

Just a shame that you fail to reflect that anything that is damaged or missing from any collection is replaced without question Flapper

Hi Steve, your right it is no time at all in the life of this build... For me, I've always found DeAg to come good on replacing missing or defective parts without question. Long may they continue to do so....Cool Cool

Hi Steve. I know how you feel as I felt the same but I must agree with Alan that usually there is no problem in replacing parts. I think the problem here was that the eyebolts were supplied far too early in the series so by the time any problems were found they were out of stock of that issue.
