Hi, I'm new to modelling and I'm just waiting on delivery of the Virginia Schooner for my first build.
I notice that there isn't a section for this, so I'll just have to hunt around to pester folk for some help when I inevitably get stuck!
Anyhoo, I'm really looking forward to trying this out!

Hi Schnozzle Welcome to the forum and the schooner is a nice little kit, Karl one of our members did a build diary ages ago that you may find useful if you havent already found it , link below. http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=7876
Put your build diary in the 'Other Ship Builds' section and just ask away if your stuck there,s plenty of help on here. As for tools link here to a description of a good basic set to get you started http://forum.model-space...aspx?g=posts&t=4796
This comprises of Craft Knife, Needle Files,Sanding Block and Sandpaper, Small Hammer, Tweezers, Drill, Micro Drills and Small Wire Cutters. All are available from model shops and most do an online service aswell plus flee-bay has lots of tools to suit. Hope this helps and have fun. regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Schnozzle, I would say start off with the basic tools as already outlined in Andy's (arpurchase) post, from there you can always build up you tool box as the build moves along... I tend to get my tools as I need them and a lot of them are due to the recommendations of others on this forum.... Regards Alan

Thanks Hans. I'm still waiting for the kit to arrive, so I'm going to make a case for tools and small parts tomorrow - just to get myself going.

Here we go, practising loading pics. I bought a plastic shelf set for storing small items. I then built a frame to surround it - added doors to the front and sides. I want to hang tools on the outside and inside of the doors, so I left enough space around the drawer unit. Edit: Close, but no cigar!! The first two should be the drawer unit and the second should be the frame before doors were added! Oh well! Schnozzle attached the following image(s):

That looks a well built and useful bit of kit, and congrats on loading the pics too. Don't drive your wife nuts though, get yourself a nice 1/12 scale plastic kit for the times when you are going to be waiting for deliveries Steve
