I'm having trouble with the steering slider touching the push rods. Has anyone else had this problem? Do I need to adjust the shock absorbers to remedy this?

I have not fitted my shocks, but I see your concern. With the suspension hanging down, the arms rest on the slider. I will fit my shocks during the week and check.
It's not the fall that kills you, it's the sudden stop

Its hard to take a photo that shows the problem. The ball headed screws on the ends of the slider touch the underside of the push rods whenever the steering is moved. This is on the left and right sides.

Under the weight of the car the pushrods should be clear of the slibebar.

If you screw in the shock absorber ball joint ends by a few turns (equally on both shocks), this should lift the suspension slightly to prevent touching.
In effect when the front of the car is lifted, the suspension will drop and the pushrods be close to the slidebar but not touching.
