I am now the owner of H.M.S. Victory and i am building SOTS. the Victory is currently proudly displayed in the lounge on a cabinet but is beginning to gather dust. i have looked at various options for a display case, including building one (i like the idea of a project) but.... they end up being very large. Should the admiral allow me to live longer, and i average a ship every two years, i am going to need space to display approximately TEN large ships...and that is if i fall short of the average male life span, do not terminally annoy the admiral, do not buy a bigger house with a ship display room (oh yes, i have thought about it, how good would that be) and only build one every two years...and i can tell you now that i want to build more than that. so...what does everyone else do to solve the problem? yours, cramped, Brisbane Current Build SotS Completed Builds H.M.S. Rent a warehouse at the Royal Navy Dockyard in Chatham? Or sell the wife and use the space that she vacates more efficiently?!

Well I give some away, but you could consider a loft or garage conversion and pop the missis in it with all the shoes and varous bits they require before re-aranging your front room accordingly Jase “Whenever you find yourself on the side of the majority, it is time to pause and reflect.” -Mark Twain

so basically the advice is...get rid of the admiral. I am not too sure about that....might just look at building my own display cases...or a display wall...or a display room, now the children have moved out. Current Build SotS Completed Builds H.M.S. Victory

I know what you mean about the size of the Victory. The build up of dust was always going to be a problem and she who must be obeyed decreed that under no circumstances would she go near the completed victory. My answer was to construct a cabinet to keep out the dust (and Grandchildren) and also display the finished model. I am attaching a picture of the completed cabinet with ship installed. I used Oak for the framework and in view of the size toughened glass, not cheap but necessary. One downside was the need to buy an oak sideboard to stand the case on. Is that's what's known as the domino effect ?????!!!!
