Looks like a lot to do before the next update, but will be worth the wait, as when the basics are done, this kit takes off with the detail and that is immense. Hi Derek, I also have this same kit and am thinking of making a start on it. On the DVD with the kit it shows using pva glue but in the instructions it says to use gel super glue for gluing the wooden frames together, just wondering which glue you have been using? Hi All, Firstly thanks to all above for taking the time to look in and the kind comments. Now for the questions: Shaun, I don`t have the DVD but my choice for adhesives is as follows: A quick grab Aliphatic for the ply parts and large amounts of superglue gel for the nylon/plastic stringers. Have yet to decide which glue to use for the metal plates as they are stuck to the stringers and ply frames, so quite a combination of materials. That said, I will be using only a small portion of the plates as the interior detail is wonderful and it would be a shame to lose it out of sight. Hope this helps at least to get you started. Trev, You are totally correct. This baby can be fully skinned with what I take to be Ali plates, but as said above I won`t be using them all by any means. As for the rivet markings, yep for sure by the thousands if you fully skinned it. The interior detail is such that the ply floors are Ali plated with full rivet markings. The rest of the interior detail has to be seen to be believed, but more on that at a later date. Have been busy today constructing the right outboard wing section and the split trailing edges for both the right and left wings. So update to follow shortly. Watch this space. Hi All, Here`s the latest update of my Lanc build. This update covers the build of both the inboard split trailing edge rear wing sections. Only the main frame sections are built at this stage, the pivoting part of the trailing edges are built at a later stage. So here`s the parts for the port side.Pic 1 First thing to notice is that the orientation of part 198 is crucial. The slots for the ribs are not all equally set apart. The instructions start with the addition of an end rib. This MUST be set at 90 degrees to the back plate, as these sections will eventually be fitted between other parts with limited space at each end.Pic 2 The instructions tell you then to fit the rest of the centre ribs in a sequential order and check they are all set at 90 degrees. I chose to set the opposite end rib first. Also at 90 degrees.Pic 3 My preference now is to glue and fit all the centre ribs at the same time and then using part 199 as a spacing template to get all the ribs to set at the same time. They are also then guaranteed to be set correctly when the trailing edge plate is put in place. Having cut out and cleaned up the edges of the centre ribs, glue and fit them in turn to achieve this result.Pic 4 When all the ribs are in place take part 199 and without glue hold the centre ribs in place as follows.Pic 5 I use a quick grab Aliphatic glue for the ply parts of this build and I still had enough time to get these parts set in place before the glue dried fully. If you use the instructions method you will have ten setting and drying times to obtain the same result I achieved in three. That said you must work with what you are most comfortable with. With the ribs set in place and dried, it`s time to fit the trailing edge plate that I used as a template. I applied glue to the eight centre ribs where the plate is laid on them and allowed it to set. The two outer ribs still have a little bit of flex in them to allow them to be moved outwards slightly so you can apply glue between the outer ribs and the ends of the trailing plate.Pic 6 The last part to be added is a centre spar.Pic 7 Apply glue to each of the slots the spar will sit in and place it with one end square to an outer rib, then allow to set. When set trim and sand the overhanging end of the spar to achieve this.Pic 8 The trailing edge plate now needs to be sanded to take the shape of the rib ends. This is only a small amount of sanding and unfortunately I`ve been unable to get a picture to show the detail, but the instructions show it well enough. Well that`s the port side done. The starboard side uses the exact same method as the port side. There are though some differences in the parts supplied. Watch the orientation of the main plate the ribs are fitted to or the life raft box section will not fit. Here`s the parts.Pic 9 When the frame is constructed as before you get this result.Pic 10 Part 196 is now added to start the life raft box. Apply glue to the ribs it will sit on and hold in place.Pic 11 Two more parts are now added to complete the box section, but NOTE they are different sizes.(Only slight but they are different). Fit part 197a toward the back of the box looking from the thin edge of the part being built.Pic 12 Now fit part 197b to complete the box section.Pic 13 So, that done here`s where I`m up to. These two sections are identical in size, it`s the camera angle that makes them look different.Pic 14 Finally, this last picture gives you an indication as to where these parts will finally fit.Pic 15 That`s all for now folks, Happy Building. So if you do it in order it won`t get so big so quickly. You`ll still love it whichever route you choose. Please let me know when the parts arrive. Hi Dave, Thanks for looking in. Just realised I missed out a section of the last update. I have actually built the basics of the second outer wing section and to that end, as it`s just a mirror of the first outer wing section I`ll put up a couple of total build pictures. The wing tips are just laid in place as not constructed yet and the props laid in place for effect.Pics 1+2 Still got the rear gunner section to finish along with the tail section, to give the full realisation of it`s length, but that`s where I`m at. Looking forward to the next update... Regards Alan Hi Alan, Many thanks for the comments. Having got a majority of the airframe built, I now have an awful lot of nylon/plastic stringers to fit. The good news is that to stop myself going stringer crazy, there`s loads of detail parts to be built and added to the frames. Then, in between times I`ve still to decide how much coverage to put on the build. I`m deferring this decision for a while till I see how it all starts coming together. Next update, not to far off I hope. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Derek, I ordered this CD yesterday - http://www.flyingzonedir...drom/lancasterindex.htm - and it already came in the post today. Spent last hour drooling over detailed images, it's a wonderful wealth of reference material - and not very expensive too. Very much recommended before you get to detailing stage! :) Any images I post on my personal builds are free to be used and shared under Creative Commons Attribution license, which means you can do what you want with them, on the condition you mention I'm the author.
