I've got up to set 6 of the Hayabusa in hand, and I'm trying to figure out how to go about replicating the exhaust color changes. (the rainbow effect) I've completely stalled on the D51 due to an absolute inability to find an appropriate cleaning solution prior to painting. I've found Parts cleaner, in 5 gallon buckets. More than I need in this life, and the next. Plus, it's stupid expensive. My Zero is almost complete, and is slated for donation in March. The Lambo is on pause, waiting for seat #2 to arrive. I'll be covering them, and the rest of the interior in Cabretta leather. What do the rest of you have going? I know all you east coast guys have been house-bound on and off lately, any quality modelling time come out of all that white stuff? Tired, Old, and Cranky!

I am trying to finish the D51.I have degreased, primed and painted both the train and tender and I am now adding final details and weathering it.2 feet of snow and more on the way.Yay.
My next projects are the Occre Jupiter kit which I am entering in the 2015 build competition (although I am so impressed with the other entries my build will be very basic compared to most).
I am also gathering greeblies for my 2002 Time machine kit.

Just completed month 5 of the D51. I'm leaving it in the natural finish.
Waiting for my final shipment of the San Filepe. Should arrive today or tomorrow. The difficult times are coming with all the rigging lines, etc. But looking forward to the challenge.

The Senna Mp4/4 has been complete for awhile, waiting for more Countach issues, and waiting for issues #25 to be available for the Altaya Shelby Gt500 from France, due to shipping costs being so expensive.

Carl- What did you use to degrease? Eagle- The GT is sweet! I'm getting the Eaglemoss Mercedes 300SL, delivered to a friend in Austria. I had to prioritize. I'm pretty sure DeAgostini will find a (few) ways to slaughter my wallet this year too! Tired, Old, and Cranky!

I used Mr Clean professional degreaser. It worked great. I used super glue remover to remove the super glue and I sanded down the epoxy blobs.
I used 2K automotive epoxy primer and it adhered very well.I have painted the tender with a sating black top coat and hand painted the details.I will post a pic later .

Hello all stumbled upon this site and I was blown away. I am on the fence with the RB7. Wife said go for it, but I have never done anything at all like this. reading build blogs and watching videos. I am stunned by the work some have done. Especially with those wooden ships. I would have nothing at all to do with one of them but I admire the skill used in building them Anyways first post and all that Kobeck Subscribed : Iron Man, 917 KH, ECTO-1 & Solar System
Subscription Complete : RB7, Fokker DR1, Ford GT40

Hi Kobeck, and welcome! I've seen the RB7 in person, and while I'm not building it, I CAN say is is cool as heck. If your wife gave you the 'go fer it", start dialing! Like everything DeAgostini, the quality is absolutely first rate. One of the really nice things about a "partwork" kit is that the directions make it extremely simple. The directions are sequential, and exceptionally well illustrated. Even though you have never done something like this kit, you can probably handle it, and handle it well. Tired, Old, and Cranky!

There are two things I use for all my stripping and degreasing needs. Purple Stuff (you can find it in the automotive asle at Walmart) works wonders. Just let the parts soak in it for about an hour and rinse off. No fuss, no muss. Can get a 5 gallon jug for about $5-6 bucks and lasts forever! When you're done soaking the pieces, just pour it back in the jug! As for paint stripping, try some Easy-Off Oven Cleaner. Put your parts in a ziploc baggy, and spray some Easy-Off in the bag until each piece is nicely coated, and let sit over night. In morning you'll have pristine pieces to work with and comes in handy if you need to strip old paint off if you made a mistake! Just my two-cents! Hope this helps! -=> Jim! <=-

Hi Jim, Thanks for the "purple stuff" lead. I hate going into wally world, but I guess it is for a good cause. Stripping isn't a problem. I have 15 gallons of methyl chloride in the shop wight now. That stuff will strip the red off of the Devil, but doesn't touch CA. Tired, Old, and Cranky!

I've had problems with the MC... last time I used it on my plastic the plastic came out with smoothed edges and some of the detailed panel lines were distorted. That's some powerful stuff... that's why I mentioned the Easy-Off... it's much more forgiving on the plastic and doesn't damage it at all, but eats paint like it was butter. And don't ever use a gasoline or linseed oil based paint remover on plastic... it will melt it!

Hello fellow USA folk. I haven't started building anything from DeAgostini yet, but I have ordered my Millennium Falcon kit as of last night, so hopefully I'll be able to start in a week or two. I'm also working on a StormTrooper armor kit build and getting my fill of learning how to work with ABS plastic. Haven't gotten very far yet, but I'll get there. Not a model, but still quite a daunting project. Hopefully between the two I'll be able to build some confidence to keep going with this. I've always wanted to do some of the more complex models and find myself standing in the model aisle of stores just staring wantingly. (Yeah, I know thats not a word). Other than that, I mostly build Lego kits and Metal Earth models. Current Build: Millennium FalconWish List: Lamborghini Countach LP 500S, Red Bull Racing RB7

My only question is does the subscription come with the series extension? Are you talking about the "go faster" bits? Carl
