Thanks Gandale. I'm a excited about it too. Quick question. Did you use the new dome that builds into a 3d version of it? I'm planning on it and adjusting the model to the correct oval dome. Be interesting to see any instructions that were supplied if you have them.

Hi, I haven't gotten that far with the build. I don't have the 3d dome version yet but it is on my list of parts still to get. I've had to sideline the build for a while as I'm giving my full priority to finishing the SOTS, once done we will see if I can get back onto her...

So my first lot of etched parts arrived today. The forward c deck bulkheads beneath the Fo'c'sle, the rear C deck bulkheads beneath the poop deck, and the bow and stern profiles. Will add pics once I have painted them up.

So here are the first etchings painted and attached to the ship. very pleased with them, even though there are a few places i need to touch up and modify. The next set for the Forward end of B Deck and the Aft end of B Deck are now on their way to me. The final image shows the B Deck set. I have also added the wings on the stern for the outer propeller shafts and the Hawse Hole on the bow. The Lower hull has been painted following the fitting of the eyelets for the portholes.

The first coat of Black has gone onto the starboard hull. Looks good. Will let it dry for a few days and then do the port side.

Hi Titanic, BigGrin

Some while ago I purchased one of these kits in a very similar condition to yours.

I have been wondering if it would be worth the cost to build as is, or to go down the enhancement route.

Many Thanks, you`ve made up my mind and it`s time to save up some money for the enhancements.

Keep up the good work. Love Love

Thanks for all the kind comments. Derek, using the photo etched brass parts does make a big difference, even at this early stage of the build. I'm looking forward to being able to actually have windows that can be seen through. Sure there wont be anything inside the ship, but a black void will look far better than the horrific blue "glass" on the supplied card decals.

Here is the next update. The B Deck etchings have been painted and fitted and they look great. I have added A Deck and the walls also and will drill out the holes for the windows when i receive the next lot of etchings which are on their way as i type. Smile

You cant really see in the photos, but i have scraped the paint from the window frames so the brass shines out in the sunlight. will look great on A deck. Here is the next fret that is coming.

So here is the next update. I received the A Deck brass etch last week and this was sprayed and left to dry over the weekend. All the window frames were then scraped to reveal the brass beneath. i left most of the wooden structure in place and painted it black so it would appear to be looking inside a darkened room. Once the A Deck walls were complete, I added the Boat Deck and began some of the structures on there, beginning with the Officers quarters and Gymnasium walls. I painted the parts of these that would be visible through the etches black also. I added the front Bridge Bulwark as well. Next is the Wheelhouse to Gymnasium Etch, which should hopefully be here in a week or 2.

Great work so far, love the window detail on the photoetch and really like your idea of keeping the windows in brass ThumpUp

Wow that looks one great build you have there.

I managed to obtain a full set of this one un-made and while it forms yet another addition to the pile that photo etch really does seem an essential extra to add.

Looks like I will have to start saving as there does not seem to be any other option out there so would hate to leave it too long and find these sets become unavailable.

Looking forward to your next updates.
Happy Modelling
