Thanks for lookingBigGrin

Here's the results of the home made tail decal. The decal paper was a little bit thicker than the standard decals so took some softening to get it to lay flat.
It looks nice though as no red shows through it, which is my concern for the other kit decals.

Nice work Steve, not easy to mask wavey lines but you've done a good job with it - well done, it looks great. Cool ThumpUp

Steve

Lovely build you have coming along.

Very well done on the red finish which has gone on well. For some reason I have never found red to be a colour that I could ever get right when I have used it.

Yours look top notch.

Happy Modelling

Thanks for watchingBigGrin

Upper decals done, underside not yet done. They went on ok with some decal solvent and have been airbrushed satin varnish to seal. Next job is either the canopy or landing gear, not sure yetBigGrin

Back on the Hawk after a long breakBigGrin

Firstly I have applied a couple more coats of lacquer to the upper surfaces. I wont be clear coating the underside just yet as the decals are not finished - there is also the smoke pod and air brake to add underneath.

Finally got the main parts of the undercarriage done, just the legs. There are also some struts and bay covers to attach but that's all for later.

I added some more detail to the legs using some wire for the main hoses and a couple of peices of etch too, plus I replaced the inner suspension with some short cuts of metal.
The tyres were weighted by warming them up and pressing on to a hard surface and I have also airbrushed a grey wash over the part that would be in contact with the tarmac.

A little weathering of panel liner and some brown wash for the greased areas and they were done.

The main canopy decals are also completeBigGrin The more observant among you will also notice that the front part of the canopy that was fitted previously is now missing, I had a reaction between the clear coat that was on there and the lacquer that went over the top and it crazed all over.
I had to carefully cut it out with a scalpal, luckily I have another of these kits to nick parts fromLaugh More soon hopefully.

Beautiful job Stevie, there's nothing that speaks 'class' for an aircraft on the ground than undercarriage that looks like it actually works! I also tried the 'heated wheels' trick on a part of my diorama, unfortunately mine were polythene not styrene - not the best idea I had on that one!Crying(Though I was very pleased with the 'recovery'!)BigGrin
