In pack #2, stage 12, step #1 the instructions say to install Wing Rib 2 (from stage 10) into the 3rd notch..... But I messed up and installed it into notch 4.
The major differences in Wind Rib #2 and Wing Rib #12 (that actually goes into notch 4) are the 2 "tabs" on the bottom.
Question 1. How will this mistake effect the final model?
Question 2. If I got a replacement Wing Rib #2 and installed it in notch 3 and cut/sanded off the tabs on the rib in notch 4, would the difference in the interal openings effect later packs and stages?
Or, do I have to get (buy) all the parts in pack #2, stage 11, plus a new Wing Rib #2 and redo this entire part?
I called customer service and found one guy VERY unhelpful... He told me several times that I was supposed to "put the right part in the right place"... Yes, I understand this, I made a mistake. And considering the price of this model, I would have expected better help. (sorry, Im venting)

Hi Randy, I`ve just consulted the official build diary (section 66) and my download instructions. It would appear that the internal cut outs do become the seating for the wheel housing within the wing. I would have to take a more in depth look into the rib sizes, before I could be sure the wing rib sizes are exactly the same. My immediate thought would be that there would be a slight difference due to the tapering of the wing in all dimensions. Please hold tight where you are until I can get more detailed info for you. Hi Randy Firstly welcome to the forum. Even the best of us can make mistakes at times so dont worry to much about it. There are several types of glue out there and the sort of glue you are using will have a different way of removal or softening, If it is an Aliphatic or Pva type glue brushing warm water onto the glued joints should free them up, If its a super glue there are tubes of superglue remover available but this will need to be applied and left over night to work and then all traces of the remover washed off before regluing the part in its correct position. Hope this helps. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hey Guys, Thanks for your replies!!! While I did stage 11 right, I messed up stage 12 because I didn't count notches right (not starting with the "half" notch at the end) Being that Im a woodworker, I used "Titebond III". LOL, it's called the Ultimate Wood Glue" http://www.titebond.com/...Ultimate_Wood_Glue.aspx
Derek, Yes I've stopped all additional work until fixing this issue. Again, thanks for your replies, Randy

Hi Randy, Have just taken some accurate measurements and the rib sizes are definitely different. As AR said above all is not lost. If you`ve used aliphatic or pva glue, soak the joints with warm water applied by cotton bud. (keeps water into the plywood to a minimum). When parts released , allow to dry fully under a weight to stop the parts warping whilst they dry. You`ll then be able to position correctly and carry on with your build. If you`ve used super glue, then I`ve never had to release that stuff. So follow the manufacturers instructions. I would suggest though that you go sparingly with super glue release agent, as it may well cause the ply to delaminate. Hope this helps you going forward. Should you need any more advise then feel free to ask! Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

Hi Randy Its a water based glue and although it claims its water proof I still think that using a small brush and warm water will soften the glue and enable you to remove the part. Regards Andy Current builds:-C57,Zero, Lamborghini Countach, Caldercraft HMS Agamemnon,Robi,R2-D2, MFH Cobra .

Hi Randy, Looks like our posts have crossed. Now Titebond 3, that`s a bit of a thing. Just read the spec on that stuff on the web and it may make things a little more difficult, but hopefully not impossible. This is my suggestion: With a very sharp/thin craft knife just score around the edges of the joints.(Don`t try to cut them open, it`s just to aid the insertion of which ever release agent works). First try warm water as mentioned above, as it`s liable to do the least amount of damage. Apply every 5-10 minutes and manipulate the parts gently to see if you get any movement. No force needed, if it`s going to come apart using this method you`ll feel the flex with little effort. Next option and I state "I`ve never tried this one", is vinegar. Same as before, score where you can with a knife gently. If you can spray vinegar into the joint or dab on with cotton buds about every 15 to 20 minutes, but very sparingly. Manipulate parts as above and reapply as required. Should you be successful, while the glue is softened clean of any residue and allow to dry totally before reassembly. Let us know how it goes, Good Luck Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"

AR & Derek,
I'll try both the water / vinegar tricks this evening.
I can see where the wheel housing could easily be effected by the wing ribs in this area.

Hey guys, I'll have to be honest. At first I thought it was a totally crazy idea.... undoing a wooden joint that was glued with professional wood glue. But, after about 35-40 mins slow, steady work.... I was able to remove rib 2!! Many many thanks. Randy

As a suggestion, move over to using a PVA or Aliphatic glue. Then (if you make a slight error)you can get it apart easier. The above glues are adequate for static models that are made of wood. Good luck with the rest of your build. Any questions, just ask. There`s always someone on here with the answers. Regards delboy271155 (Derek) COME BACK GUY FAWKES "YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU"
