There seems to be remarkable lack of reply to this post. I too would like the shipwrights views on this. My thinking for deck planking is 0.2 x 3 mm mahogony but I'm not sure; should it be 0.2 x 2 mm?
Any ideas on dimension, wood type, thickness etc. would be gratefully received both for deck planking and hull planking.
Cornwall models have a host of options + any other wood you might suggest. Because of the freight charges it seems prudent to do a single order so estimated quantity would be helpful as well.

I now realise why it's so uiet in here, because there is another stream elsewhere. However, the questions remain.

Others have suggested 0.5 x 3mm walnut for the decking and 1mm x 3mm Tang something for the hull planking. There was also a suggestion of 0.5 planking but I'm not sure if this is to thin for the hull.

Hi Artful and Johny,
The Deck planks for being within scale need to be 3mm wide. The thickness is down to you, I have used 1mm thick on mine. But 0.5mm is ok aswell( I think the official build will be 0.5 mm thick)

The planks for the hull on the other hand are normally 2mm thick and 5mm wide. This is pretty much standard on all kits.*EDIT-(Single Planked ones)* The colour is your choice though. The planks that are being fitted at the moment by Tomick are basswood/limewood.

Hope that helps

Chris..
