Hi, quick question. Do we get decals for the lexan racing body as well as the display body ?

Hi all I am new at this forum stuff.
I am painting my Rb7 race body Tomic said he used ps-59 dark metallic blue with ps-58 pearl clear did he just use the clear on the front & rear wings?

PS-58 pearl clear is for Lexan body use only. Apply a first coat on the inside then immediately apply the PS-59 blue on top.
If you are going to use pearl on the front and rear wings, you need to use TS-65 pearl clear in conjunction with TS-53 blue. Prime the front and rear wings fist, then apply the TS-53 blue then a coat of TS-65 pearl clear.
PS colours are for polycarbonate lexan, TS colurs are for other plastics, you can't mix the two.

Hi Tomick when you say spray pearl first then blue it is while pearl is wet you spray blue

do we get Webber decals for the both the race helmet and the display helmet?
if so, which issues are they provided in?

The helmet decals are included with the air filter helmet and display helmet, (the decals are provided at the same point as the helmets in isues 19 and 78).

Thanks for providing the colours of the racing body. I painted my body
With ps59 with the ps58 pearl. Not sure if the pearl makes a huge difference or not but im really happy with

On the Racing body, as you paint it inside out am I right in thinking you spray backwards essentially, so you spray the inside of the shell with the following in this order;
Tamiya PS- 58 pearl clear
Tamiya PS-59 dark metallic blue
Tamiya PS-1 white
Tamiya plastic primer
Obviously for the other parts, you would substitute the blue for yellow as required?

yes spray clear pearl first, then the dark metallic blue. i am not sure how much of an affect the pearl actually has though so its possible to skip the clear pearl.
i didnt bother with the final black paint either (did you mean black?, i thought white was meant for a backing to the yellow paint), i found that re-doing another coat of dark metallic blue seems to darken the colour to the desired level. Also, the shade of colour is hugely affected by the amount of light that is coming through the other side. When the racing body is installed on the actual car, there's no light coming through so it looks dark anyways.
i am not sure about the need for any primer on the polycarbonate racing body, i thought primer was only for the display body with use with the TS-53 paint.
edit: use primer and ts-53 on the racing front and rear wings, as they are made of hard plastic.

You should never apply primer onto a polycarbonate /lexan body as you will end up with a primer coloured body.

Thanks for the advice guys. SO again, in order of physically spraying the paint, and only talking about running body components (not Display Body things), is this more accurate?
Blue Sections
x2 Tamiya PS-58 pearl clear
x2 Tamiya PS-59 dark metallic blue
x1 Tamiya PS-5 Black
Yellow Sections
x2 Tamiya PS-58 pearl clear
x2 Tamiya PS-19 Camel Yellow
x1 Tamiya PS-1 white
Hard Plastic Parts (wings, bargeboards etc)
Tamiya Plastic Primer
Tamiya TS-53
Tamiya PS-58 pearl clear
The numbers being a rough guide to the amount of coats required.

No need for pear clear on the yellow sections.
Hard plastic parts - do not use PS-58 clear as the PS range is for polycarbonate/lexan. You need to use the TS version of pearl, which is TS-65 pearl clear

Hi Mr T, I am currently painting display body and would appreciate help with the following,
Did you need 2 x cans of TS53 as another member has needed? I have only bought 1x100ml can at present.
I originally thought TS65 pearl was to cover both metalic blue and yellow but I now think it is only for the blue?
How many coats of primer did you use on the main body? I have only used one coat of Tamiya fine surface grey primer at present. It has covered very well and dosen't look like it needs a second coat.
Very nerve racking time but will get there.
