I received my latest delivery on Friday but found the package contained 2 issue 31's and no 30. CS sending out replacement.
I have fitted the parts from issues 28 & 29 together with the 2 parts 78 and 79 from issue 27 which were fitted but not glued last time.
The only fit issue was with part 74 which needed the corner of transverse frame 29 cut off to give the correct fit (3rd pic).
I will still be able to start the planking but will have to temporarily fit parts 64 & 65 in place at the bow as the planking butts up to these (these were left off to allow the fitting of the torpedo room later).
In fact, as I have copies of issue 31 and issue 32 just mirrors 31 on the port side, I will be able to get a head start on next months build.Laugh

Nice work Graeme. Something good came out of that hiccup with your subscription then, handy thing to have 2 lots of planks.BigGrin Your parts fitted better than mine, they left several gaps which had to be fill with plastic putty.
happy building

Hi all, thanks for the comments. I have temporarily fitted part 64 at the forward end and started planking the starboard side. Most of part 64 will need to be cut away before final fixing to allow for the torpedo room to be fitted.

Thanks for the comments guys. Ian, these planks are much thinner than the plastic but don't butt up against it except at the very bow end where the plastic is thiner. The planks for the outer hull, wich come later, are thicker and the hull is double planked which should bring the planking slightly proud of the plastic allowing it to be sanded back to the same level.

I had the same problem with issue 30 and got two 31, but they asked me to send back one of the 31 ,and I will received a post paid address sticker from them when they send my issue 30 and then to send the extra 31 back to them

Hi Graeme, nice going. Good to get the planks laid on both sides, balances the build up more. I'm skipping issue #30 myself and moving on to the planking so I can give myself more time for opening up those vents.
Happy building

Hi all, I have now completed the build to issue 35 with the exception of the stern plastic part from isue 30. I have cleared out most of the vents by sanding back the inner surface with silicon carbide paper used wet under a running tap (first picture shows progress so far). The vents which have the reinforcing ribs moulded on the inside will need to be drilled out in the same way as the the bow ones were.
The removeable deck went together with no problems apart from the slots on the hull needed to be filed slightly to give an easy fit.
Once complete the removeable deck was sprayed black using a games workshop Chaos black aerosol can.

Sorry Graeme, I've got to say it again. You've done some really good work on those vents; they're so clean they look like they could have come straight out of the box like that. Certainly a labour of love on your part. Well done again
Happy building
