Well it had to be another Mclaren didn't it?
Not a magnificent 1/8 ( unfortunately ) but a 1/20 Tamiya kit.BigGrin
I've got the sponser decals and a Tamiya upgrade P/E set.
It will give me something to do while awaiting the delivery of the Senna 4/4.
Three months and still not got the first pack yet.
Never mind.. this will keep me busy.BigGrin

Nice kit Malc, I have exactly the same one with the same extras and which I did start building on here previously when I was 'SennaMentalMe'? I was only thinking quite recently that I should perhaps reinstate the M23 diary and carry on from where I left off, but I think that I really ought to concentrate on my 1:32 Spitfire Mk.IX build and three others that I already have on here first?! Blink Sad

Here we go. First off the DFV.
I'm going to use Alclad 2 a little more on this build ( I need to practice Airbrush cleaning !! ) so I've used Tamiya grey surface primer then Alclad black and finished with Alclad Aluminium. The covers are in Tamiya Matt black.

Nice start to the build Malc and that Cosworth DFV looks pretty realistic already - well done!! Cool ThumpUp

Looking forward to seeing this build develop further and who knows, it might even inspire me to carry on with mine sooner rather than later?

I decided to use a slightly thinner wire for the plug leads and added a red sleeve to each at the distributor made from thin electrical cable with the wire striped out.

Not happy with the venturis that came with the kit. The plate that joins them and the chrome finish are not to my liking.
So I nibbled the plate away with a side cutter and smoothed the edges out. Finished with a light spray of Tamiya chrome silver. Plus a small dab of flat black in the holes.

Nice work Malc and making good progress with the engine/gearbox assembly. I did exactly the same as you with the induction trumpets on my kit and they certainly look much better and more to the point, accurate with those plates removed - well done. Cool ThumpUp

The rear discs and brake ducts are quite straight forward. There's a couple of PE parts to add to the sidesBigGrin and I've added some ventilation with a small brush and much cursing!Laugh .

There is no piping for the fuel lines in this kit so I've added some with thin electronic wire sleeving. Also added a fitting to the Fuel pressure relief valve ( I think that's what it is ).

The rear spring units are one piece mouldings so I sprayed them gloss balck then masked off the core and sprayed the spring coil tamiya metallic silver.
