Hi all, I have done this poll as I am stuck. I want the Bismark to go with my Hood but I really like the Missouri, it has an awesome colour scheme and is the largest scale ship model available. Cheers Chris File Attachment(s): 3.jpg (426kb) downloaded 16 time(s).On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

I agree with the majority Chris - I think the Missouri would be very cool and looking at your HMS Hood build I'm sure you would make an excellent job of it!!

Sorry guys but changed it.... I ordered Trumpeter 1:200 USS Iowa the sister ship to Missouri, it was £50 cheaper for what is basically the same kit. Regards Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Hello Chris,
Fifty quid is quite a saving for what as you say is basically the same kit, so I can understand why you went for the USS Iowa!!
A bit of a shame though as it would have been good to have a model of the USS Missouri, which I'm sure was the ship that the Japanese signed the official surrender documents to end the Pacific War and indeed WWII? Maybe that's why the USS Missouri is more expensive as it would be more popular?
Looking forward to your build diary Chris. I'm not really a ship builder of any kind though I am seriously tempted to have a go at the DeAg Akagi if I can at some point as I just love the Pacific War and an aircraft carrier has a certain amount of appeal for me with all the planes on deck.

Cheers guys, Kev I think Iowa was on offer though, the Iowa was the only ship of its class to serve the Atlantic during WWII, During World War II, she carried President Franklin D. Roosevelt across the Atlantic to Mers El Kébir, Algeria en route to a crucial 1943 meeting in Tehran with Prime Minister Winston Churchill of Britain and Josef Stalin, leader of the Soviet Union. She has a bathtub—an amenity installed for Roosevelt, along with an elevator to shuttle him between decks. It also seems the Iowa lasted longest in service than Missouri. Will probably do Missouri again in 1:350 Chris On the bench 1/350 Revell Tirpitz Platinum Edition (Pontos PE and Wooden deck) plus extra Eduard PE set and extra MK1 door sets.

Damn, that's a big box. I really want to tackle a 1/200 scale myself, I have my sights set on a Bismarck in the future but its all down to getting the space, I am hoping that I will be able to move from my modeling room from the garage into the spare room soon *fingers crossed*
