have assembled the stages 1 to 8 but find the slots for the top stringer is very slightly out of alignment, have done all as shown on instructions, would it be in order to slightly open up the slots in a couple of places to enable the stringer to lay true and straight,ron

It depends on how bad the out of alignment is, but should be ok to make adjustment.
